3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 neuromatt (610) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 6, 2011
On tap at Sin & Redemption in Toronto, served in a branded Trappist glass. Pours hazy caramel with a small fluffy white head. The head fades to a bare cover but leaves a fair amount of fine lace. The nose has sweet apple and fruit aromas, along with caramel, flowers and herbal hops. The flavour is well balanced between moderately sweet toasted caramel malts and delicate herbal hops. Hops are favoured towards the end. The finish is long and toasty with bitter notes that linger. On the palate, it is medium in body with a syrupy texture and soft carbonation. Overall, this is a decent tripel, but there are many more interesting examples out there. In some ways it has more in common with a dubbel than a tripel. 2011-01-06
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Wolfbass (517) - Firenze, ITALY - JAN 5, 2011
Se devo essere sincero questa birra mi ha un poco deluso, forse perchè mi aspettavo un pò di più dall’unica abbazia trappista ( anche se con qualche vicissitudine) fuori dai territori belgici. Una tripel normalissima, niente di più.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 erickomosa (68) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - JAN 4, 2011
Cloudy orange. Head less effervescent than I hope for. Yeast and sweet fresh fruit. And then caramel malt in the mouth. Palate is good but not quite airy or dry enough for my taste. Finishes sweet.
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 MercyDevice (193) - Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 31, 2010
Light taste for a tripel, but still very good. Not very hoppy, and has a "sour apple" taste that I like. Light amber in color, with a thin head.
