COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle conditioned.
La Trappe Tripel’s aroma is slightly malty and estery. This ale owes its crisp and spicy character to the use of coriander and other spices and herbs, as well as to post-fermentation in the bottle. Despite its full, rich flavour, this out-of-the-ordinary ale still has a light and dry aftertaste with a touch of bitter finesse.
Ingredients: Water; Barley malt; Hops; Yeast; Coriander. 17.5°

Draught. Amber colour, hazy, small head with decent lacing. Quite intensive fruity aroma dominated by apricot, alcohol is hidden very well. Light sweetness. Creamy texture, average carbonation. Very good tripel.

Too bad!

This was poured into a chalice. The appearance was a nice hazy golden orange color with a thin white film of a head. Some light lacing occurred here and there, but there wasn’t too much. The aroma was slightly malty and estery to allow some super light of coriander. The taste was sweet through the malty esters and had just a touch of the coriander to come back to have just a quick spiciness to it. The aftertaste and finish were dry and bitter. On the palate, it sat about a medium in body with a fairly decent sessionable quality to it. The carbonation seemed fairly good for the style and for me as there was a light harshness but it wasn’t overbearing, very subdued - if anything. Overall, honestly, to me, I’ll say this was a good Tripel, but I think I was expecting more thinking this was going to be outstanding and it wasn’t. Oh well, I’m still glad I tried it.
