La Trappe Tripel’s aroma is slightly malty and estery. Despite its full, rich flavour, this out-of-the-ordinary ale still has a light and dry aftertaste with a touch of bitter finesse.
Ingredients: Water; Barley malt; Hops; Yeast. 17.5°

Vraiment très sucrée au nez! C’est clairement le genre de bière qui ne m’invite pas trop à continuer l’expérience. Je me lance quand même...

In der Nase Hefe, Kräuter, Karamell, Frucht Wein.

PROOST La Trappe !

33cl bottle@home in Trappist glass@ approx 10 degrees C. Pours amber with correct off-white head. Faint aroma of malt and yeast. Carmel taste, rather heavy and sweet with malt and grapefruit notes. Lacks the freshness of the top tripels. The aftertaste is a lingring bitterness, almost quinine and like biting into citrus pips. Too bitter by far to be pleasant in my taste. For my money there are other tripels out there which are much better balanced.

750ml bottle from Halles St-Jean shared with wife. Aroma: lemon, candide, spices, Belgian yeast. App: cloudy golden with small white head, some big bubbles in the head. Taste and palate: medium to full body, high carbonation, light sweetness, a tad dry, warm alcohol finish. Overall: a good representation of the style. Think the body could be bigger still enjoyed it. Not expensive for the style.

0,33 bottle. Golden color with thick white head. Banana, little honey in the background, hay aroma. Fruity, medium sweetness at the begging, little stronger bitterness at the middle, thin alcohol in the background, makes mouth dry.

Gold with a centimeter of off-white head, moderate rate of decay. Aroma is sweet raw grain and hay with slight banana and peach. Like a fake banana candy flavor. Body is oily-starchy, moderate weight. moderate carbonation, coarseness, and burn. Flavor is some banana-peach and phenols as well as a crisp grass hops finish with raw oat-wheat bran. Overall, a pretty good tripel; could be a bit more crisp, but the yeast flavor is pretty good. Despite the phenols, it’s on the Belgian side of the flavor spectrum. Nice!

Well, it’s OK, not anything special in this category. Pretty dry with a taste of hay. Dry and quite spicy at the finish. It’s not that I dislike this brew, but for the money, you can do better. If someone dropped off a truckload of this in my driveway, I’m sure I’d manage to get through it in a year or two. Still, one can do better for a tripel.

Pours a cloudy dark gold with two fingers of fluffy white head. Malty bouquet with medium intensity, some yeasty fruit, bananas and a hint of peaches. Medium bodied palate with some boozy heat, maltiness and fruitiness. Medium+ finish with low bitterness. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
