COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle conditioned.
La Trappe Tripel’s aroma is slightly malty and estery. This ale owes its crisp and spicy character to the use of coriander and other spices and herbs, as well as to post-fermentation in the bottle. Despite its full, rich flavour, this out-of-the-ordinary ale still has a light and dry aftertaste with a touch of bitter finesse.
Ingredients: Water; Barley malt; Hops; Yeast; Coriander. 17.5°

Fruiter than some of it’s trappist counterparts but still maintaining some of the more traditional spicy aromas.

Hazy pale yellow to orange colour body. Thin white head. Toast, coriander, spice, banana and some caramel. Taste is medium sweet with a light bitterness. Texture is towards oily, with some strong carbonation.

Cloudy. Yellow color. Creamy white head. Lots of bubbles. Big aroma, fruity with banana and yeast. Full bodied. Not that sweet and not that much bitterness.

Cloudy orange color with quickly vanishing head. Aroma of butter, fruit but also a bit stale. Taste like a traditional triple.

Clear, amber orange color, immediately disappearing bubbly head. Sweet grain and ripe banana aroma, reminds me of a Bière de Garde. Taste is very sweet at the beginning, I can’t smell or taste any coriander. Quite strong carbonation. Then a medium bitter taste develops leading to an medium long finish. Not my favourite Trappist Tripel.

Corked bottle @ LCBO: cloudy orange beer. Big fruity aromas with spice and yeast. Tastes malty and bready with dried fruits and coriander. Nicely carbonated while smooth over the tongue with a delightful bittersweet finish. Robust yet inviting; the alcohol is well hidden, but the warming effect is not. Fine trappist.

BBE 05-2015, I’ve kept this for a year since purchase. Orange clear beer with big white head. Aroma has ripe fruits with banana, apricot and pear, Belgian yeast, little alcohol and some glue. Taste is fruity with pear like Belgian yeast and malty sweetness. Palate is thick but highly carbonated. Finish has a short intense bite of bitterness and goes on with alcohol. Coriander comes up on the finish. Pouring the yeast in makes the beer hazy, makes the aroma softer and the flavor drier. Not the best tripel out there.

330ml bottle, poured into a La Trappe Trappist glass. Appearance is opaque amber with small off-white head that reduced slowly, and left no lacing. Aroma of apricots and a hint of banana. Flavour of apricot, banana, toffee, spices and a hint of caramel. Taste is light sweet and medium bitter. Palate is medium bodied, smooth texture and lively carbonation. Overall a delicious Abbey Tripel, despite 8% ABV the alcohol is not noticeable.

Pours hazy gold with big with head. Aroma of lemon peel, spices, banana, coriander and orange. Bitterness medium. Body medium. Great mouthfeel. Nice tripel.
