COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle conditioned.
La Trappe Tripel’s aroma is slightly malty and estery. This ale owes its crisp and spicy character to the use of coriander and other spices and herbs, as well as to post-fermentation in the bottle. Despite its full, rich flavour, this out-of-the-ordinary ale still has a light and dry aftertaste with a touch of bitter finesse.
Ingredients: Water; Barley malt; Hops; Yeast; Coriander. 17.5°

330ml served in its own beautiful chalice. A: Pours a cloudy amber color with a medium beige bubbled head. Small retention but it does not disappears completely. No lacings are left S: Sweet aroma. Reminds a liquor. Notes of caramel and fruits. Strong on malts and yeasts. More biscuity than bready T: Follows the nose. Sweet upfront. Caramel, malts and yeasts followed by a mild bitter end. Quite simple to a Triple, at the same time very pleasant and drinkable M: Medium body. Low carbonation. Quite light to its 8% ABV. Balanced sweet-bitterness O: The less traditional Trappist beer but still a great one [ BA Review @ 7/10/2011 ]

I cannot compare it to their other varities. That being said, I found the aroma to be spicy, alcoholic, and very enticing. Flavor was that of a very, very well crafted Triple, with just the right balance of malt, spice, and yeast. Had a noticable alcoholic kick, too, and of of the better aftertastes I’ve experienced within the style.

33cl bottle shared in a Gouden Carolus glass. Pours a nice dark straw colour with a generous whitish head which lasts well into the drink. Aroma is estery, Belgian yeast and spices. Taste is more of the same and is the best balanced of the (spicy/dry) tripels I have tried. Slightly bitter aftertaste but perfectly balanced against the slight sweetness. Very good.

A stinky Netherland dominator to be sure! Big white wine vinous, some cider, wheat, basement musk, brown sugar, raisins. Party time in the mouth, the same tastes come out in this pretty blondie with a proud ivory ’do. A low carbonated, slightly oily mouthfeel with enough peppiness to cut through the alcohol strength, of which lends not too much taste and zero burn. Damn fine.

BOTTLE 33 CL from artemb. Look: hazy amber, frothy to creamy white head. Aroma: blond fruit, apple acidity, spicy alcohol that starts hot but evaporates after a while. Taste: blond fruit, quite sugary sweetness balanced by alcohol spicy heat and bitterness.

Starts a tad too sweet and alcoholic, but cleans up as it warms. OK.

Bottle. Pours hazy golden yellow to coppery with a big off-white head that collapses into a thin but fully persistent layer, little lacing. The aroma is fruity with apples and dried plums, spicy, malty with caramel, yeasty, alcohol, artificial sweeteneers. The taste is medium sweet, with a medium to low bitterness and a hint of sourness. Smooth, creamy palate with a long sweet finish.

Bottle @ Convent Santa Clara, Middelburg. Golden colour, creamy white foam. Fruity aroma with spicy notes (coriander). Sweet with light bitter aftertaste. Ok tripel.

Bottle from Julio’s. Poured into a tulip. A light copper color. Off-white head. Yeasty-spice aromas. Flavor is dominated by a nice yeast profile and some good bitterness. Notes of light plums and spice. Decent, but not as refined as some others.
