"A special and strong Trappist ale. The use of coriander gives it a spicy character. Golden in colour with a fruity, bittersweet taste.
Ingredients: Water; Barley malt; Hops; Yeast; Coriander

UPDATED: DEC 29, 2009 Murky dark orange body topped by a long lasting thin off-white head. Very tasty and thick beer. Like a fruits & vegetables soup. Flavour of ripe peach, ripe plums, ripe pears, more tropical fruits, some cooked vegetables (including carrots!!!). All that swimming in caramel and a teaspoon of corriander. Overall taste of earthy ripe stuff. Filling. A little bitterness at the very end. Could have been very good but the very ripe flavour was a bit too much. Anymore “soupy” and it would be sold in a can.

BB 2/95... Poured a hazy brownish orange color with a small, off white head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of vanilla, honey, orange citrus, and light yeast. Taste of vanilla and caramel malt, yeast, citrus, and a touch of alcohol. Mouthfeel was nearly flat.

750ml Bottle: Faint aroma of grains, slight caramel, light plastic, and some fruit. Poured orange in color with a tiny head that disappeared very quickly. Cloudy. Sparkling. Many large-sized particles throughout. Flavor is medium sweet. Tastes of malts, slight yeast, caramel, light spices, grains, slight butter, and slight honey. Thin, tingly texture. Average to lively carbonation. Sweet, honey, slight caramel, and sweet malt finish is lightly dry.

This beer is a mostly clear orange-amber color with a medium thick off-white head that dissipates slowly. Thin spotty rings of lacing. The aroma contains yeast, malt, sour fruit and light spices. Medium-bodied with a nice spice/yeast character. Flavors of tart fruit, candi sugar, peppery spices and yeast are all present. The finish is fruity and yeasty and leaves a mild herbal hops aftertaste. This beer is enjoyable from start to finish.

UPDATED: SEP 21, 2006 (Bottled, 0.33l) Slightly hazy, golden-amber color with a smallish, but lasting, slightly lacy head. Very fruity, citrusy, sweetish-candy-caramely aroma with some acidity and alcohol. Neutral, fruity flavor with some acidity (especially in the finish), and lots of grainy malt. Alcohol is better hidden in the flavor. Quite full-bodied palate with pretty low, but somewhat sharp carbonation. A fruity and full-bodied, but slightly sharp, alcoholic and acidic triple. Lacks in the complexity department, too. (Bottled, 0.75l, rated Jul 15, 2005, BBE 07/2007, was 7-4-7-4-14=3.6) Clear, dark reddish amber color with a smallish, lasting head. Very earthy, moldy and yeasty, alcoholic aroma with toffee hints. Earthy-malty, yeasty and slightly sugary flavor. Medium-bodied, dryish palate with a quite high carbonation. An earthy tripel, slightly spoiled by the alcohol and carbonation. (Bottled, 0.33l, rated Nov 24, 2003, was 8-5-6-3-14=3.6) Extremely beautiful, dark orange color with reasonable, almost white head. Strong, yeasty, alcoholic aroma. Quite subtle and neutral, soft but alcoholic taste with some sweetness. At first very drinkable, but changes towards the end of bottle as alcohol begins to taste through.

Re-rate: ligth bronze. The honey aroma that seems to be in all La Trappe ales. Taste very similar to the dubbel, but better balanced.
