"A special and strong Trappist ale. The use of coriander gives it a spicy character. Golden in colour with a fruity, bittersweet taste.
Ingredients: Water; Barley malt; Hops; Yeast; Coriander

UPDATED: JUN 18, 2006 Not quite as spicy or as floral as the Quadruppel. Little less carbonated too. Great beer, but prefer the the Quadruppel. Brownish blond; or is it blondish brown? Some spice or fruit - maybe coriander and orange with some cinnamon or apple as well. Recommended to all. (8, 4, 9, 4, 17)

***Re-rate 750mL bottle - corked and caged. Burnt blond body. Small white head on this as well. Nose is malty and sweet with lots of floral notes, candy, light yeast notes, spices, and ripened fruits. Taste is much the same with sweet malts, light alcohol, ripened fruits, candyish notes, light spices and light Belgian yeast. Body is lighter than I recall with a mild carbonation feel. Finishes pretty much the same but this seems lacking to what I recall.

My first beer after a 12 day "liver healing" abstinence. Good to be back! Starts off with a light amber colored pour with a light, yet clumpy white head, good lacing. Effervescent bubble action lasts throughout - very good looking brew. Aroma - Alcohol is most apparent but not overwhelming, also note traces of bubble gum and apricots. Flavor has a slight bit of nuttiness with faint bubblegum and cotton candy sugar sweetness. Not very complex. Alcohol is apparent but not overwhelming. Carbonation is just about right - not champagne-like - but lively and perky. Very drinkable Tripel, not one for the ages, but a pleasant diversion.

Bottled. Amber color with creamy long lasting head. Orangey and fruity aroma with hints of melon. High carbonation. Orangey flavor with exotic fruits, sweet maltiness and warming alcohol. Sweet and fruity finish with marmelade flavor. This beer plays mostly on fruity esters.

(33cl Bottle) Pours a medium white head that quickly dissipates. The body is a beautiful, cloudy, copper. Has a pleasant apple and banada nose. Thin apple flavours are evident with some slight spices and malt. Finished rather thin and dry. Average Abbey.

Spicy, but still has a characteristic Belgian (yeah, I know it’s actually Dutch) musty, malty swetness. Nicely balanced.

This orange ale poured with a thin off-white head that dissipated quickly. There is a strong aroma of candy and caramel malt. The flavor is candy and raisin, with harsh spice and pepper at the finish and lots of carbonation.

UPDATED: APR 16, 2005 Bottled, stored one year. Cloudy amber with a frothy head. Sweetish, herbal, vineous aroma, with notes of almond paste and banana. ABV shines through in nose. Sweet malty flavour, with segments of banana and licorice. Not as rounded in mouthfeel as expected.

UPDATED: SEP 18, 2003 Quite good dutch triple. Actually very weird why the La Trappe brewery isn't entitled to the label of Trappists, because the monks decide everything according to beer brewing and even commercials on tv. The only thing is that the brewery is a part of Interbrew. I hope it's more a religious issue than a beer issue, because their beers are certainly Trappist quality!
