4.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 RichardGretton (3711) - Leicestershire, ENGLAND - JAN 13, 2003
Syrupy looking blonde beer with a frothy light head that lasts forever. The aroma is light and slightly sweet but a little non-descript. The flavour is impressive, strawberry bubble gum with an alcohol kick. Overall a very impressive light beer belying its alcohol percentage.

UPDATED: OCT 18, 2008 Bottle (33 cl) from Systembolaget. Hazy - almost cloudy - amber colour (unusual for a tripel) with a large off-white head. Yeasty, spicy slightly fruity aroma. Nice flavour with some discrete sweetness and a dry finish.

In the 750 ml bottle purchased from Gomer’s. An amazing bargain for $2.99. Wish that I had purchased more! Pours a deep amber color with an off white head. Fine fruity aroma of raisins and plums. This seems closer to an abby than a triple. Flavor is sweet and smooth with a good supporting body of malt and a strong alcohol aroma and mouth. Quite nice due to the drinkability. Was awesome with a T-bone steak grilled outdoors.

UPDATED: JUL 10, 2003 I thought this one was really given in to the problem I see often with belgian trippels. It's like drinking alcohol and yeast with some beer in it. Coincidentally, La Trappe were the first belgian-style beers (yes I know this is dutch) I ever tried. I couldnt figure out what the hype was about belgians until I tried other brands. The classic "dont judge a style by one particular brand".

9/25/10. Hazy deep red/orange pour with a small khaki white head that fades to a film fast. Light fruity bubblegum aroma with a definite hot spicy kick from the yeast and alcohol. Sweet caramelly flavor, hints of burnt sugar and dark candi sugar, with a touch of roasted malts and yeast. Nicely clean and tasty.
