3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 carruthm (1400) - Seattle, Washington, USA - APR 4, 2009
dark orange in color with a smallish off white head. aroma is of sweet malts and traces of belgian fruit spices. taste was somewhat bitter combined with the sweetness. not nearly as good as the quad.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 guzzler67 (1393) - Hanover, Maryland, USA - MAY 2, 2006
Dark copper appearance with a medium size tan head. Sweet smelling, yeasty, fruity aroma. Taste was malty, spicy peppery and modestly sweet. Well carbonated, medium to full bodied mouthfeel leading to a long lasting, dry, fruity finish.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Doppelganger (1383) - Dry County, Arkansas, USA - AUG 24, 2006
Shiny golden with a big cap of butter colored head. Bright rum vapors--spicy and restless, a layer of warm, melanoiden rich malt, and green plums to round out the aroma. Lively carbonation and a fruity sweetness, a touch of tartness, and a clean dry finish. A well executed tripel!

Pours a dark honey color with a thick and fluffy bed of foam. Sweet banana, pineapple, and tangerine in the aroma. The flavor is sweet with banana’s foster combined with some tangy pineapple. Lively mouth feel. Good stuff.

Nice average head above a golden murky body. Aroma is ok... a bit of musty orange, raspberry and white wine. Dry fruit flavor with some dry honey in start and finish. Pretty good.
4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 Sully (1378) - Potts Point, New South Wales, AUSTRALIA - OCT 30, 2006
UPDATED: JAN 31, 2007 Encouraged by the delicious Dubbel I moved on to this. Perhaps I need to remember that the reverse order would be better. While this has higher ABV it is lighter and not as malty. Once again smooth is the word. Lovely apricot, peach and plum nose with a hint of hop. This beer slides down. Clearly a big alcohol beer but nothing of that harsh fusel type of alcohol that can sometimes detract from this style. What a find.
4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 AceOfHearts (1375) - San Francisco, California, USA - SEP 28, 2002
Sour, cloudy, amber looking in my Chimay glass. Effervescent grapes in the nose following into the taste. For me, this is the perfect mix of their dubbel and their quad: nice fruitiness with a little extra kick.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 WISEGUY572 (1373) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 11, 2008
It’s a tripel and it’s a good beer. But it’s not my favorite. Pours much darker than I would have expected from an Abbey tripel. Not nearly the yeasty or bready flavors I expected. Darker pour, great lacing, enjoyable, but not exactly a tripel.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 TaxiDriver (1372) - Stadland, GERMANY - MAR 29, 2008
Bottle. Fruity smell (cherry, red wine?), average malty. Medium sized white creamy head, fast diminishing. Red sparkling body. Moderate sweet start, light bitter finish, average duration. Medium body, dry and creamy texture, lively carbonation. Finally light astringent finish. Nice one, not one the best Trappist beers but a good one!
