"A special and strong Trappist ale. The use of coriander gives it a spicy character. Golden in colour with a fruity, bittersweet taste.
Ingredients: Water; Barley malt; Hops; Yeast; Coriander

Sour, cloudy, amber looking in my Chimay glass. Effervescent grapes in the nose following into the taste. For me, this is the perfect mix of their dubbel and their quad: nice fruitiness with a little extra kick.

Dark copper appearance with a medium size tan head. Sweet smelling, yeasty, fruity aroma. Taste was malty, spicy peppery and modestly sweet. Well carbonated, medium to full bodied mouthfeel leading to a long lasting, dry, fruity finish.

Bottle. Fruity smell (cherry, red wine?), average malty. Medium sized white creamy head, fast diminishing. Red sparkling body. Moderate sweet start, light bitter finish, average duration. Medium body, dry and creamy texture, lively carbonation. Finally light astringent finish. Nice one, not one the best Trappist beers but a good one!

It’s a tripel and it’s a good beer. But it’s not my favorite. Pours much darker than I would have expected from an Abbey tripel. Not nearly the yeasty or bready flavors I expected. Darker pour, great lacing, enjoyable, but not exactly a tripel.

It poured a hazy golden liquid with a big bubbly foam which left some nice lacing. Smelled of warm alcohol and dried fruit. My first reaction when I tasted it was that it tickled the top of my mouth it also left an oily sensation. It was a bit sweet with hints of bread and dried fruit.

Pours hazy deep yellow/light god, medium white head, poor lacing. Nose is massive bananas, cookies, overripe fruit. Flavor is citrus, banana, and loads of cardboard and damp.... Blech! This kinda sucks.

Bottle. Appearance: Clear amber with thin light head. Aroma: Honey sweetness and spices with hops in the background. Flavor: Well balanced. Dried aprictos, small hop bitterness, sweet alcohol, like rum or something. Palate: Medium body. Too much carbonation. Overall: The heavy carbonation and the bitterness from the hops makes this beer really refreshing. But it´s not as complex as a good abbey tripel should be.

The coldest day of the year Down Under called for a beer with a bit of heat in it. This was just the ticket. In the glass, this is a clear copper colour with a loose 2cms of lacing foam. The aroma was wonderfully rounded and inviting. It had a nice sugar-cane sweetness, some Bazooka Joe bubblegum, caramel and faint Christmas spice - cloves with a pinch of nutmeg. It’s damn near perfect. The Belgians make this sort of quality seem effortless. First sip and ahhhhh... lovely. It’s medium bodied and softly carbonated with notes of caramel pudding, bubblegum, raisins, muscat and a warming peppery finish that takes the edge off the chill in this under-heated room. It’s a smooth customer but bares some teeth in the finish, where the 8% abv is evident. A first-class tripel. (30cl bottle; IBS Perth; best by Dec 07)
