"A special and strong Trappist ale. The use of coriander gives it a spicy character. Golden in colour with a fruity, bittersweet taste.
Ingredients: Water; Barley malt; Hops; Yeast; Coriander

yuk. bright orange, fizzley head - could be detergent at pub though. heavy, sweet, toffee + coriander + ripe banana. sweet, cloying, and verging on undrinkable.

750 mL corked bottle: Decants a hazy roiled honey-copper ale with Billowy white cap that reduces after a few sips to a lace-making ring. Soft carbonation. Aroma of succulent fruits, treacle, spices and sweet bread with some resinous undertones and some fusil alcohol. Wonderful rounded mouth feel to this with abundant complexity in the flavour profile; raisin bread, caramel, orange rind, earthy tones, sharp resinous hopping, all mingling in balance. Finish is lingering and warming with a fruity-cake dominance. A nice abbey triple done by a commercial brewer, I look forward to seeing how the 2 bottles I cellared will taste in a year or two.

UPDATED: OCT 27, 2004 Orange brown in color, large white head. Aroma is malty sweet like brown sugar with some wild honey mixed in. Flavor is syrupy and sweet. Sweet finishi. Did I say sweet enough? Yes I think it is sweet!

Faint hazy amber with fluffly fine foaming lasting head. Big complex aroma dominated by malt but also includes bananas, spices, boiled lollies, antiseptic and bread dough yeast. Medium body with a decent but short bitter hit first up followed by a longer malty sweet middle and yeasty flavours. Finish is a bit weak for such a big beer. A pretty nice brew all the same and definitely worth trying.

Bottle, pours a bit of head not too foamy. At cold temps it is pretty harsh to drink, as it cooled down it got much better, it was very nice to drink at a cooler temp, good offering

Label changed slightly. This was actually inexpensive. Nice deep caramel brown in color. Nice thin head that sits on top and doesn’t fade away. Glad I picked this up because it looks great. Smell is of malt and yeast. I don’t get that deep yeast aroma that I would like to smell, or even that fruity yeast aroma, if you will. Leans more towards the malt aroma. Very much a caramel malt taste. Doesn’t really have too many nuances in the flavor. Yeast comes out slightly in the taste, but too muted for a tripel. Not as carbonated as I thought it would be. It is actually very smooth. Yeast comes out a lot more when this beer warms up. Overall, decent beer, not very complex in the taste, but overall I like it.

UPDATED: FEB 18, 2005 33 cl, fairly cold in tall Maredsous stem glass. Pours a murky orangey-amber, with unavoidable transfer of sediment, into a slight and disappearing head. Cidery look. Candy and stewed-fruits aroma and taste. Taste slight clove and warm apple pie, pears dried and stewed. Interesting. After a Chimay Bleu, this beer has tons of flavor, but damn that sediment in the glass looks a mess. Candy and soft bitter-herb aftertaste. What a big aroma. Sheer pleasure in the glass, would get this by the case in spite of all the clumpy ’yeast poop’ swirling around the bottom of that beautiful glass.
