3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 jehoey (765) - Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 16, 2006
my favorite of la trappe thus far: pours dark orange with another disappointing head. aroma is over ripened fruit, estery with a touch of spice. flavor is really bitter sweet, and I like it. quite enjoyable sweet and dry balance. not the best, but very good. soda like palate, very active. pretty good.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 haukur (763) - Reykjavik, ICELAND - SEP 16, 2003
UPDATED: JUL 16, 2006 [oct 1 2003]What is it about these La Trappe beers??
They are nothing special, and this tripel?
To creamy and sweet, and creamy!
It´s not very bad, but isnt
good, and I´m surprised about this
wannabe Trappist (2,6) [jul 16 2006] To my surprise this turned up at Kaffibrennslan in downtown Reykjavik, with glassware also. Peaches and banana in the nose, some candysugar with a hint of hop bitterness. Small head, plums, sweets and a spicy finish. Nice triple
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20 Tejas (762) - Dallas, Texas, USA - MAR 20, 2005
UPDATED: APR 22, 2005 Re-rate. Sampled at the Koninsghoeven pub. This one is MUCH better fresh. Very smooth and refreshing. Didn’t have the hot alcohol bite like the first sample I tried. Spice is clearly coriander which I find very tasty. Yeast delivers some fruity flavors too(banana?). I could drink a lot of these.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 BrockLanders (759) - Panama City, Florida, USA - MAR 7, 2005
Bottle. Pours a orange/brown color. Medium frothy white head, but dissipates quickly. The aromas is sweet, fruity, and spicy. Mouthfeel is syrupy in texture, with a taste of yeasts, fruits, and some maltiness. Full bodies with a dry spicy finish. I liked this better than the quad.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 fraternie (754) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - SEP 30, 2001
A very good Belgian with some interesting flavor notes in the spicy malt. Amazingly smooth at the beginning, but seems to develop a little bitterness as it warms.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20 teorn88 (749) - Rimini, ITALY - JUL 31, 2009
33 cl bottle. Pours a clear dark-orange colour with vanishing creamy white head. Aroma is malt, spicy and alcohol. Flavor is fruity with some yeast and alcohol. Little bitterness in the aftertaste. Dry finish. Light body and little carbonation. Not so great.
4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 johninmelb (748) - Bristol, Gloucestershire, ENGLAND - NOV 6, 2005
Bottle, 8 Years Old+. Quite remarkable given the circumstances - the bottle was old and dusty and not poured very well. Nevertheless, the beer showed superb sweet honey notes with hints of fig and a character of beechwood. A classic, and up in the top three Trappist tripels in my book. Judging by my over-the-average rating, it clearly ages well!
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 yayforbeer (745) - Orange Park, Florida, USA - DEC 30, 2004
Hazy orange-brown with a little creamy white head and a bit of lacing. Fruity and malty aroma. Nice malty flavor with banana and sweet caramel. Similar to the dubbel but with a little heavier body, and a touch more bitterness at the finish. The flavors are a little deeper and stronger as well. Tasty and enjoyable. Not an Allagash, but I like it.
