Wow. This was a great beer. i wish had been my first, niot my 3rd beer at Strange Brew bar. Muddy orangey brown sewage color with hardly any head. Sweet taste. Tastes belgian. Slightly loweer rating because it is super expensive.

This beer is somewhat surprising. The aroma is almost underwhelming, smelling of grain and a hint of booze. However when you taste this it livens up quite nicely, tasting of sweet fruits with an almost hay malt with booze hitting my palate in the middle with a nutty finish. All the notes are very lively due to the carbonation. Tripels aren’t usually my favorite style of abbey ale’s, however this is most likely the best tripel i’ve had to this point. Very solidly brewed beer.

Nice golden color, verging on amber. Smallish creamy white head with great retention and great lacing, also.
Citrus fruits, bananas and caramel. Buttered biscuits. Very floral and fruity. Slightly spicey. Yeast and sweet malts. What you’d expect from the style.
Lots of yeast with some spiciness. Light fruit flavors, mostly pears, apples, and peaches. Butterey caramel notes. A touch of oaky vanilla.
Despite all this, I find this Tripel to be almost bland (compared to others) in it’s smoothness.
Nice, creamy mouthfeel. Feels as a Tripel should. Lots of tiny little bubbles in the carbonation. Very smooth.
This wouldn’t be bad to keep on hand as a ’go-to’ beer. Totally easy to drink.
4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 erickok (802) - Leiden, NETHERLANDS - MAR 17, 2011
UPDATED: MAY 30, 2011 Orange and little amber body, full and foamy head. Aroma has bread, young cheese, peach, citrus. Second sniff doesn’t bring anything new to the table. Flavour is of a mild bitterness first, with a alcohol backup. Fades into a hoppy and light sweet n sticky taste, ending a bit abrupt for this well-developed beer. Time for another sip, then, which is no horrible thing! Really enjoyable and quite easy to drink tripel. Recommended.
