"A special and strong Trappist ale. The use of coriander gives it a spicy character. Golden in colour with a fruity, bittersweet taste.

bottle. Golden colour, large head. Aroma of flowers, cloves, banana. Taste is rich, with floral, malty, sugar notes. Warming alcohol. Very good.

HOw cna it be that it has almost the same rating than the Dubbel, anyway it has the right aroma and aftertatse, the apparience is just amazing. Cloudy and sweet and spicy. Like orange peels.

Bottle - December 2005 Pours dark copper, caramelly colour. With a medium not-so-frothy-as-expected white head, that almost completely disappears after a while and sees itself reduced to a white rim, leaving, some lacing as my chalices empties. Aroma is sweet, yeast, pungent but captivating. Taste is strong, sweet, a bit of burnt, but not offending. It reminds me a bit of Leffe blond but on steroids, you can really feel the yeast profile and the candi here, it has a fruity touch to it too. You can clearly feel the 8% and it even tastes stronger. Mouthfeel is full despite its lightness. Aftertaste is spicy and intense. A beatifull triple indeed.

A delicous, light, buttery and banana infused (very banana) tripel. A nice night cap when you are not in the mood for a Quad or something like a barleywine; creme brulee of tripels.

The best from the La Trappe. Hazy, cloudy body with a medium head that will not stay long on the top of the glass. Smooth and easy drinking beer. One of the best Tripel.

Pours a lovely rose-gold with a one-finger head with decent retention and some minimal lacing. Aroma is ripe peaches and sweet, almost tangy malt. Tastes fantastic - buttery and warm with well-balanced yet sweet malting, sharp hops without overwhelming, complex with plenty of caramel and raisin-tart. Good carbonation and slightly creamy body. This is easily my favourite tripel - more like their quad in terms of sweetness and complexity. I like! Many thanks to Robin for the trade!

Pours a bit hazy with beautiful amber colour and a larg e foamy head. Rich, straight taste with notes of liquorice, herbs, sweet malts, toffee, a hint of yeast and hops, flowers and bananas. Smooth mouthfeel, slightly carbonated. Quite light body but still avoids being watery. Alcohol is well hidden, creates a nice warming effect.

Pours a clean manuka honey amber with a quickly killed head. The aroma is light and fruity, some dates, orange cleaning product and spices. A nice flavorful beer, the orange is a pleasant surprise, its almost like a foundation on which the rest of the flavours are built on, there is a good bit of malty sweetness, raisin, caramel, finishes with a hoppy citrusy orange rind flavour. Warm foamy mouth feel clinches the deal. All really pretty fantastic. I don’t know if I would really call this a tripel, but still really fantastic.
