"A special and strong Trappist ale. The use of coriander gives it a spicy character. Golden in colour with a fruity, bittersweet taste.
Ingredients: Water; Barley malt; Hops; Yeast; Coriander

Bottled as Koningshoeven. Pours the darkest of tripels I’ve seen - a very amber influenced yellow. The aroma is complex and full of fruit - I notice melon, apple, banana, papaya, bubblegum, and champagne. The flavor is a bit different than the aroma, and has a more meaty, taste with the appropriate Tripel phenols. The moughtfeel is a bit thin and light. Overall, another very good Trappist offering. This one’s aroma is particularly good.

courtesy of cartdan. pours hazy golden, white head. Good example of Trappist, not my fav. of them. Pours dark orange with thin off white/beige head. Some nice grainy mouthfeel with dark fruits that seem to be overpowering the experience. Some yeast add to the palate experience and finish.

750 ml bottle from LCBO. Pours a slightly hazy dark orange with good-sized eggshell head that leaves decent lace. Aromas of leather, cola and light fruitiness. Taste of toffee, lots of vanilla and a little dark fruit. Surpisingly light; alcohol fairly subtle; soft carbonation. Nice.

9/25/10. Hazy deep red/orange pour with a small khaki white head that fades to a film fast. Light fruity bubblegum aroma with a definite hot spicy kick from the yeast and alcohol. Sweet caramelly flavor, hints of burnt sugar and dark candi sugar, with a touch of roasted malts and yeast. Nicely clean and tasty.

Bottle. Not quite what I was expecting from a triple, pretty murky dark pour. Aroma is all berries especially something on the blueberry/blackberry side sweet and just a touch acidic. Taste is sweet and all berries again, good job at getting balance though, no acidity comes out. Palate is above average with good carbonation but not too aggressive like tripels tend to get. Really enjoyed this one.

11.2 ounce bottle. Poured into my Chimay Trappist glass. By the way if you don’t have yourself one of these glasses you’re missing out - they’re basically a glass goblet. I took care in the pour to avoid getting a bunch of yeast into the beer, so there’s little to no head on this one. Nice carbonation levels, it bubbles like a sparkling champagne or something similar. Kind of a hazy appearance, with a really nice amber color that reminds me of sun tea. Initial impressions of the aroma is that it’s much more "beer-y" than I was expecting. I get grain and malt, almost like a basic amber ale. That doesn’t last long though. The second sniff hits with you with that classic Belgian estery sweetness. I get green apples and dried apricots in the nose. First taste is rich with an almost velvety mouthfeel. It’s a heavy beer, with lots of dark toffee malt sweetness chased by warm fruits. You get a warm rush of alcohol in the finish. This beer shines in the finish. I haven’t had a beer with this kind of aftertaste. It’s like the opposite of hoppy. There’s just this huge brown sugar and roasted cereal finish that’s quite delicious. The alcohol level prevents this beer from being anything more than a special occasion, but there’s no denying it’s doing something right. Very solid example of a Belgian Trippel. I’m impressed.

BOTTLE: rich gold pour, tannish head. Fruit and malt on the nose, plus some spice. Taste is mildly bitter, spice, fuller-bodied, very good tripel.
