Pours a coppery, whisky color (with thick legs to match), a haze of large particulate and a small, cream-colored head that fades fast to a halo. Caramel malted aroma with pear, pepper and white wine. Smooth, thick body with a fluffy lift to finish. Flavor is sweet malted fruitiness with earthen and woodsy notes, ending with grapeskin. In a word, relaxing.

A solid effort from the Trappists of Tilburg. Not as stunning as their Quadrupel, but a fine, spicy tripel that is balanced with a very mild sweetness. Very good with spicy food.

Bottle (330ml). At Smokeless Joe shared with blankboy. Poured hazy orange (some tiny black sludgies) with a large light tan foamy-creamy lasting head. Aroma of banana, wine, spices (cloves, coriander), yeast, oily slightly toffeeish malt. Taste is blended and balanced, mostly fruity spicy malt and plenty of well-behaved alcohol. Mouthfeel lively and syrupy - way smoother than most tripels I’ve had, not as complex as the St. Bernardus or the Westmalle, but nevertheless ...

Clay bottle. Pours an impressive dark orange amber, cloudy, with a rapidly rising lively cream-coloured head that fades rather quickly. Fruity toffee aroma, sweet, hints of yeast and spices. Sweet palate, full-bodied, a little sticky, with flavours of almonds, marmalade, toffee, bread, and spices. Finish is dry, but not really bitter. Alcohol is a pleasing warmth in the throat. Very nice sipper!
