3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Balazs (562) - Budapest, HUNGARY - NOV 11, 2011
Bottle from Csakajosor.hu. Poured hazy, with an amber-orange color and a lively, tall, lacing tan foam. Strong coriander, honey, grapes, cinnamon, melon, and hints of vinegar in the nose. Caramel, peach, yeast, and candy sugar in the aroma. Medium dense with lots of carbonation. Sweet, yeasty taste with caramel sweet aftertaste. All the sweetness hides the alcohol well. Very nice one.

Very much liked this beer even though I’m not a huge fan of these styles. Despite reading about its "spicy" character I didn’t taste much spiciness. Just very tasty.

A tripel from the only Dutch trappist brewery, pours a golden-orange colour, slightly hazy, with lots of carbonation, made of bigger bubbles, and has a foamy mild off-white head that has good retention and some lacing. The cork has writting on it, 07/08. I think this is the first time I sense caramel in the aftertaste, for a tripel. The taste is quite mild overall, but still lots to choose from. Fruits (mostly apples), spices, hop and some bread in the finish. The nose is on the spicy side, reminding me of Unibroue’s Maudite (which is one of my favorites). Bready, fruity and yeasty. Almost like pepper aromas.... which I like very much. Smooth mouthfeel, real easy drinkability for such a high alcohol beer. Pretty good overall, but lacking the ingredients that make these brews hazy.

Bevuta in bottiglia. Ambrata, quasi limpida, con buona schiuma. Aroma dolciastro di malto con note acidule, molto speziato. In bocca delicata e ben bilanciata, con lieve amaro nel finale. Buona.

330 ml bottle from Systembolaget. Poured in Westmalle Trappist glass. White, frothy head. Appearance is hazy and golden . Head settles fast. Aroma is sweet malts, raisins, some caramel, belgian yeast and a little hops. Taste is sweet and quite sour. Some alcohol, definitely. Full body with a lively feel to it. Also a bit thick. Really good beer, but nothing really special compared to other Trappists.

Light taste for a tripel, but still very good. Not very hoppy, and has a "sour apple" taste that I like. Light amber in color, with a thin head.
