3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle. Pours hazy deep golden with a thin head that settles as thin layer on the beer. The aroma is lucious, fruity with clear influence from bubblegum. Delicious aroma. The taste is malty sweet which is balanced with bitterness. It is a tasty beer but it is slightly uninteresting. The La Trappe Tripel was tasted along with Chimay Blanche and Westmalle Tripel: It scored highest on aroma and taste in comparison to Chimay and Westmalle.

PROOST La Trappe !

2.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 11/20
33cl bottle@home in Trappist glass@ approx 10 degrees C. Pours amber with correct off-white head. Faint aroma of malt and yeast. Carmel taste, rather heavy and sweet with malt and grapefruit notes. Lacks the freshness of the top tripels. The aftertaste is a lingring bitterness, almost quinine and like biting into citrus pips. Too bitter by far to be pleasant in my taste. For my money there are other tripels out there which are much better balanced.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
750ml bottle from Halles St-Jean shared with wife. Aroma: lemon, candide, spices, Belgian yeast. App: cloudy golden with small white head, some big bubbles in the head. Taste and palate: medium to full body, high carbonation, light sweetness, a tad dry, warm alcohol finish. Overall: a good representation of the style. Think the body could be bigger still enjoyed it. Not expensive for the style.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
0,33 bottle. Golden color with thick white head. Banana, little honey in the background, hay aroma. Fruity, medium sweetness at the begging, little stronger bitterness at the middle, thin alcohol in the background, makes mouth dry.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Gold with a centimeter of off-white head, moderate rate of decay. Aroma is sweet raw grain and hay with slight banana and peach. Like a fake banana candy flavor. Body is oily-starchy, moderate weight. moderate carbonation, coarseness, and burn. Flavor is some banana-peach and phenols as well as a crisp grass hops finish with raw oat-wheat bran. Overall, a pretty good tripel; could be a bit more crisp, but the yeast flavor is pretty good. Despite the phenols, it’s on the Belgian side of the flavor spectrum. Nice!

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Well, it’s OK, not anything special in this category. Pretty dry with a taste of hay. Dry and quite spicy at the finish. It’s not that I dislike this brew, but for the money, you can do better. If someone dropped off a truckload of this in my driveway, I’m sure I’d manage to get through it in a year or two. Still, one can do better for a tripel.

Pours a cloudy dark gold with two fingers of fluffy white head. Malty bouquet with medium intensity, some yeasty fruit, bananas and a hint of peaches. Medium bodied palate with some boozy heat, maltiness and fruitiness. Medium+ finish with low bitterness.

Beautiful Trappist beer. I think La Trappe has beaten Rochefort as my favorite. Went to the brewery today, so much atmosphere.
Back to the beer. Beautiful clear golden/orange. There isn’t much foam, after a few minutes a thin cover of soft foam covers the beer. The flavor is divine. Little sweet in balance with a little bitterness and a touch of sour. The beer is quite sparkly. The aftertaste is one of the best I’ve ever tasted. The delicious aroma’s stay in your mouth for minutes.
