The world’s first and only Trappist white ale that continues to ferment slightly after bottling. Brewed using only water, wheat, and hops. No herbs are added. Saphir hops give the ale its citrusy aroma. A real thirst-quencher on a hot summer’s day that also makes for a delicious drink at any other time of the year.

Saphir-hopfen verleiht dem Bier ein Zitrusaroma. Schönes Sommerbier, aber nichts aussergewöhnliches, 5.5% alk

750ml cork bottle bought at Das Bier in Tai Kok Tsui.

Cloudy hazy light straw honey colour with dirt- like yeastsediments; One finger head with crumpety white foam which last for 1 minute; Very good lacing and zero carbonation; Fragrant and sweet aroma of light malt, with very strong honey, water chestnut, floral, molasses, yeast and faint lemon; Mid to light sweet taste of light malt, with fairly strong wheat, light tartness, molasses, yeast, very light lemon, shades of bitter hops and note of grass; light body, thin and quite crisp palate; Mouth feel is fair maltyness and fair wheat presence in thin body. Only a touch of tartness. Strangely it’s molasses sweetness dominate in the absence of orange peels and coriander, with a nasty streak of Alkoholfrei. Has some lightly tasteful floral sweet vibe but doesn’t last long. Yeasty and very low hops rounds up an unorthodox impression. Hmmm… Hoppiness is light lemon in nose and taste. Bitterness is close to minimal, some hop taste can be felt but almost no bitterness at all, just sweet wheaty finish; Fairly dry aftertaste. Sweet and very easy to mouth.

Comments: I wonder what did La Trappe had in mind for this witbier? They probably wanna put their own stamp on this popular style with sweetness and flowery feel, but the end result is just sweet and hollow with nothing special to show for. Drinkable with lots of hand-waving, not recommended.

White and light beer, not a great body, really drinkable with a pleased light apple taste in aftertaste.

0,33 l bottle. Unclear pale yellow in the glass, mighty off white foamy head. Wheat and yeast on the nose. Starts with a lot of wheat and yeast, little bit chewing gum and banana. Decent dry citrus sweetness. Nice one.

Nice white beer, not my favourite but well made and refreshing, it deserves some lemon slice, good or bad you choose.

Aroma: Medium spices, coriander, orange zest, Light bready. Appearance: Hazy, light straw body. Large white head, good retention. Flavour: Medium coriander, Light bready. Very dry, crisp, finish with lingering zest. Mouthfeel: Medium light body with high carbonation. Overall: A nice beer. Slightly too dry and a bit too spicy. 330 ml bottle, poured. Thanks Andre! 16A. Cor clara, espuma alta mas pouco persistente, turva. Aroma citrico, de panificação, e no fundo um floral do lúpulo. Sabor forte de panificação, cereal, muito refrescante, pequena acidez e amargor residual.

Pale yellow cloudy with medium white creamy head. Malt aroma with remarkable coriander note. Soury taste with coriander notes, some sweetness and touch of bitterness.
