Hazy golden ale with a creamy white head. Nice wheaty aroma with notes of orange peels and nice floral hops. Rich mouthfeel, creamy, with nice curacao notes, rich and sweet malt, good hops balancing the whole. This is a rich blonde. At Moeder Lambic’s, Brussels, April 2005.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
(33cl bottle) Hazy, golden colour hue with yeast flakes and a big foamy white head. Quite shy initial aroma. Slightly yeasty and sweet pale malty nose with a delicate flowery hoppy touch in the background. Moderately sweet flavour with a whiff of acidity, medium to full bodied with a calm carbonation. Pale malt character, moderately bready and fruity taste; malt-accented, slightly bitter finish with a moderate presence of hops and a rather strong alcoholic tang (11.IV.09).

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pale golden straw coloured beer with a very creamy sticky white head. Very light spicy aroma. Some white pepper over a dusty and earthy oak character. Lovely bright spiciness. Light mint and soft apricot. Very vibrantly spicy with some wheatiness and a zesty noble hop character. Light fruitiness on the back. Soft tropical notes. A lovely tripel-esque brew.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pale dark gold, clear (end is very flunky); white dense head. A woody smell, but not oak - rather plywood; some alcohol. Delicate perfumey taste, sweet but nowhere cloying. Malt's obvious, not oppressive. Yeast gives a distinct creamier, but no new taste. Medium bodied, it has definitely more punch than its first impression might suggest. Alcohol comes out with a vengeance. Nice beer, hiding its real strenghth. But it hasn't the true classic stuff potential.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Any first impressions?
-A creamy head laces all around the whitened golden.
-A spicy perfume mysteriously fails to create excitement with its shy citrus and frolicking herbal hops.
-Delicate herbal hops walk hand in hand with the dry yeastiness, a communion made of proper communication.
-The soft effervescence and decorous maltiness are one.
What if you dig deeper?
-There are vegetable undertones in the aroma and flavor profile.
-The yeastiness gets abrasive after a while, and does recall chalk.
-A sizeable wheat portion might have been used.
-Deconstructed, this one loses some points, but for simple estival enjoyment, it still works very well.
Bottle; no date notched.

A Mes rate:
One of those rates I did when I was a little worse for wear. Not too bad to not be able to communicate effectively though...
Great cream and spice in the nose of the type that most blondes should aspire to. Usually this type of aroma is just standard fare but occasionally you get a good one and this is one of those (just upped to an 8). Nice cloudy golden body with great thin but well formed head. Lasts well and leaves plenty of lace too. Something in the flavour that spoils it just a little. All the musty and hoppy notes from the aroma are there but there is something a little acrid too. Maybe its the alcohol of which there are bags of in the finish and it sits around for an age after letting you know this beer means business. Strong and impressive. Enjoyed this a lot.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Hazy golden pour above which grows a lasting white cover. Yeasty, soft nose with a rather perfumey character that reminds of lavender and oily herbs. Shampoo-like algae notions are quickly taken upon by the tartish breadiness from the omnipresent yeast. Spicy, floral fading hop suggestions are grounded by the massive yeastiness. Not too carbonated surprisingly, it feels a bit oiled despite the still far BB date. Not as flavourful as I’d thought.
