Rastacouere (5923) - Montréal, - DEC 28, 2004
Superb color. A deep sandy orange, mysteriously hazy. Small off-white head. Possibly the lightest of their beers in the aroma, but on the tongue, the bitterness adds a sheet on the tongue with every sip. Gentle and earthy at first to complement the light body, but diplomatically growing on you. Generous caramel malt makes you sip faster and faster to uncover the floral and grainy sides which later become soapy and leafy. Very dry finish, sandy, getting tastier and tastier. A very worthy bitter.

Metalchopz (1429) - Quebec, CANADA - AUG 10, 2011
Originally rated October 2006. Sampled at the pub itself, in Jonquière, Quebec. Poured a clean darker caramel colour with good retention and decent lacing all around. A ring eventually stayed. Good caramel nose with light smoke. Watery with slight stickiness. The taste was more on the caramel side with a hoppy finish, but no lingering. Average amber ale for those who like caramel.

(Growler) Courtesy of Goldorak. Pours an off-white head with a red-amber body. Initial nose of anacette (black licorice) then melded into a mild "café au lait" as noticed by Mélanie. Biting hops mix with a mellow, almost appley malt flavour. Good.

Ungstrup (24026) - Oamaru, NEW ZEALAND - AUG 24, 2005
A hazy amber beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is quite hoppy and somewhat malty. The flavor is sweet with notes of toffee and caramel, and rather hoppy, which gives it a dry slightly bitter end. The mouthfeel is slightly sticky.

Oakes (10202) - Gibsons, British Columbia, CANADA - JUL 15, 2005
Bright amber colour. Sweet brown sugar and caramel aroma with very restrained fruit. Kind of dry. Toasty flavour over top of a sticky sweetness. Not particularly cohesive, which is a must for a bitter.

Jan 2005. Amber ale with a reddish copper hue. Sweet malty aroma, some pepper notes. Nice light malt with nutty notes, and light hops, giving restrained bitterness. Light yet yummy! Thanks Rasta!

From a 5 days old mason jar. Cleast amber color with no head. Aroma and flavor of peppery hops, malt and caramel. Thin body, liquorous texture, very little carbonation. Thanks to Rastacouere for bringing this back from the brewpub!

UPDATED: JUL 17, 2005 Original Rating (7-3-8-3-16=3.7): Honey-like malt sweetness with caramel and butterscotch notes and a mild peppery hop nose. Deep copper-brown with thin, off-white head that recedes to cover. Strong malty flavour with pleasant herbal/spicy hop flavour and a pleasant balancing bitterness. Medium-light cask-like body and smooth mouthfeel. Enjoyed from a mason-jar style growler with beerbuzzmontreal, lubiere, MartinT and Rastacouere.
Rerate (7-4-7-3-14=3.5): Mild caramel and biscuity malts with herbal hops in the nose. Slightly hazy, deep copper-amber with decent white head that recedes to ring with some lacing. Mild toasty and bready notes with fair balancing bitterness. Medium body with moderate carbonation. Very drinkable. Sampled at the brewpub with Oakes, Rastacouere and Ungstrup.
