Very dark. Thin froth. Light aroma with charcoal notes. Kind of a light black cloud. Tastes much bigger than the aroma. Nice gentle sweetness. Gentle on the tongue. Like a delicate candy. Notes of strong coffee, chocolate and licorice toffee.

Opaque black pour, with tan lacing. Molasses and cocoa on the nose, flavours of dried fruits, cane sugar, and dark chocolate. Well carbonated keeping mouthfeel from being cloying. Bottled on 15/12/2010

Bottle shared with toffsbury. Pours opaque black with a big tan head. A little bit of roasted malt in the aroma, but much more yeast than I would ever expect to smell in an Imperial Stout. Taste is sweet, with a little chocolate, metallic, roasty, and a little creamy too. Surprisingly thin body for a 10% ABV Imperial Stout. Fine overall, but bad by Imperial Stout standards.

Roasty aroma, but a lot of yeast too. Tiny bit of chocolate in there too. Not so much coffee as expected... Aroma is not that strong. Beautiful black with a surprisingly white head. Not much to say about the taste till it warms up, besides the bitterness of the roasted malt. Will wait till it’s warmer. Now that it’s warmed up: a bit metallic, not much in the way of coffee or cocoa... Just roasted barley and not much else. It’s OK, but it didn’t deserve the 2010 World Beer Awards’ "The Americas’ Best Strong Stout". I paid too much for this.

Bouteille 500mL.

Great head and body. Very thick. Dark candy sugar on the nose. Taste is even more sugar on the taste.

500 ml bottle. Pours a dark black with orange reflects. Nice, beige head with good retention. Tastes of sweet coffee, burnt toast, maybe hazelnut. Has some dominant sweet taste which I’m having a hard time identifying (black cherry? blackberry? purple grape?). Nice coffeeish-dark chocolate bitterness in the finish. Body is very watery, carbonation is heavy. A very easy drinking imperial stout, although somewhat disappointing for a fan of the genre.

[bottle] Slightly musty aroma of sweet molasses, green apples, and a little cardboard. Opaque garnet-black under a light brown, thin cover. Slightly salty flavour that is velvety with roasted malt accentuated by notes of plum. Sweet, but balanced by black chocolate bitterness. Warming, full body, high carbonation.
