2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Rastacouere (5923) - Montréal, - JAN 25, 2009
Hazy golden Belgian ale that produces almost no head. A spicy and cerealic nose greets the drinker with a fair curacao undertons and minimal bitterness. This lacks all the way throughout as the biscuity malts feel a bit heavy under the creamy, yet watery palate who packs a fair amount of sweetness. Fortunately a citrusy acidity strikes to balance it all, but this could definitely use more of a hop kick or a less plain yeastiness as it is just extremely clean as it is.

(Rating #2008)

My Bottom Line:
This pedestrian Belgian-style Golden Ale amuses with its lemony tartness, banana esters and slender cereals, but its mundane personality does not compel one to drink more than a glass.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A ring of foam covers the veiled pale straw blond.
-A wheat character is detected.
-This is surely the same yeast as their Kuvée Brune.
-A few rubbery phenols are found in the nose early on.
-The mouthfeel is a tad watery and not very authentic.
On tap at the Jonquière brewpub.
