500 ml from Guyon farm A: low caramel, fruity App: dark clear copper lasting beige head. T/p: full body with average bitterness. Medium carbonation. O: OK. The heatness from the alcohol is a bit too present.

Bottle. 500ml. Pours cloudy pale amber, with low offwhite head. Good lacing. Aroma is kind of bitter, sugar, alchool, yeast. Taste is of malt. Very bitter. Notes of sugar. That stuff seems a little bit too young, I would be curious to taste it after a year or two. Weird stuff, barley wine-wise.

Bouteille 500ml, Il fait -28 en dehors de l’apart Il fait froid dans l’salon. Cette bière réchaufe bien. Belle couleur ambrée tirant sur le rouge-orangé. L’odeur d’alcool, de prunes mascérées et d’herbes me montent au nez. Au goût, pas mal d’amertume, quand même très maltée. Je goutes les oranges, les herbes et l’arrière goût d’alcool dans ma gorge. Un des mes premier barley wine, j’ai bien aimé. Bonne bière forte qui goute bon et réchauffe.

500ml bottle, copper-amber color, with a big bubbly white head, grainy cereal malty sweetness nose, with some graham cracker, malt sugar, sugar pie, buckwheat pancake notes, and some light dried raisin, fig, bran muffin, toffeeish accents in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a warmth, grainy, sweet toasted, biscuity, caramelized, bready cereal malt character with some graham cereal, caramel granola bar, butterscotch pudding, buttery toffeeish, cream sugar flavors, with a cookie dough, mild sugar pie undertone, leading towards a warming, sweet sugar maltiness, light dried raisi, brown sugar sweetness, toffeeish, caramel pudding finish.

500 ml bottle. Pours a pale, orangeish brown with a white, persistent head. Slightly tastes of oak, but also of nuts with some sweet caramel notes. Light bitterness in the finish. Body is creamy, carbonation is average. The alcohol is easily perceptible. This was my first barley wine, and I gotta say I liked it!

Dégustée en fût au Vices & Versa à Montréal. De couleur ambrée-rouge foncée et voilée. Nez fruité (cerises, notes de prunes et de raisins vineux), malté de caramel sucré avec des notes d’alcool, de houblon herbeux et de sucre brun. Moyenne-ronde en bouche avec un pétillement moyen et une texture légèrement huileuse et aux petites notes sirupeuses. Goût fruité sucré aux faibles notes sûres (cerises, léger de raisins vineux, notes de prunes, traces de figues et d’agrumes) accompagné de petites notes épicées (poivre très doux) lors de l’entrée en bouche auquel se rajoute un goût malté de caramel sucré avec des notes de biscuits et des traces de sucre brun. Parallèlement, un léger goût d’alcool réchauffant ainsi qu’une légère-moyenne amertume de houblon herbeux aux notes florales sont présents jusqu’en finale. Post-goût moyen, moyen-léger amer d’alcool doux, léger de houblon herbeux et de fruits (moût de petits fruits). (printemps 2007)

Bière de couleur plutôt ambrée avec un généreux col mousseux. Des odeurs de malt, de levure, de pâte à pain, de cassonade et d’alcool se manifestent aux narines. Son goût est plus difficile à cerner, mais on détecte quand même une palette amère, maltée et alcoolisée, avec des pointes d’agrumes; d’oranges confites. Elle réchauffe en dissimulant bien son taux d’alcool.

Pours a dark copper with a lasting off-white head. Aromas of dark fruit, toffey and whiskey hints. Taste fairly barleywine but it’s not as hoppy as I expected. Sweet waves of dry nuts on taste buds. I’m amaze how they hide the 10% alcohol. Some dryness at end. Good one.

500 mL bottle. Nice looking beer; clear orange-copper with a medium, resilient, off-white head. The aroma is complex without being overwhelmingly appealing; fresh fruit, booze, herbs, and caramel. Upon tasting, I’m gonna suggest that this one ain’t quite ripe yet. The first problem is that it is overcarbonated for the style. Secondly, while I know that the booze presence needs to be there, it’s still a little too hot. There are some nice elements of fruit and caramel there, they’re just evaporated by the booze and fizz. The potential demends that this one be revisited in a year.
