4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 OD40oz (705) - Box Elder, South Dakota, USA - JAN 23, 2005
I was pretty pumped when I found this stuff because Labatt Blue is one of my favorite beers. This beer is a darker tint of yellow than Labatt Blue with somewhat of a cloudy look and a quickly diminishing white head. It has a crisp nose and a clean taste with a somewhat citrus hint to it. This was pretty damn good I liked it better than Labatt Ice.
1.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20 Roli (404) - laval, Quebec, CANADA - JAN 16, 2005
Oh well. I haven’t been on this site for a while, and its really pathtic that all I got to rate is that thing lol. I had this one after a molson. Blarhgg, you know, something that doesn’t taste anthing can’t be disgusting. Well this apply here. Typical macro. Compares to other labatt product.
1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 dp (531) - uniontown, Ohio, USA - JAN 15, 2005
Not sure why I purchased this beer, on sale and hadn’t tried it. Very bitter, could get used to it, but why bother? Called Canadian Ale on bottle.
1.3 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 3/20 robertsreality (2460) - Minnesota, USA - DEC 30, 2004
As if KNOWING it’s from Canada isn’t Bad Enough.. lol... it’s ALSO Labeled Canadian, Canadian Beer. Gold Coloring....Carbonated..Watery and Skunky..Bitter. Not Attractive.
2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 Boutip (3294) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - DEC 29, 2004
Bottle: Poured a golden color ale with almost no head. Aroma is very weak, almost non-existent. Taste is a mix between some sweet malt and light bitterness. Better then most crap that Labatt produce but this is still macro beer without taste.
1 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 3/20 badgerben (4091) - Blaine, Minnesota, USA - DEC 6, 2004
Actually had Labatt Candian Ale, if that makes a difference. There is some aroma of grains and a taste of hops and malt, but it is so watered down it might be better if it lost the flavor all together.
1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20 rudolf (2229) - Buffalo, New York, USA - DEC 5, 2004
Nose is alcohol, faint toasty malt & hints of toast. Bready. Breadiness continues to flavor. SOme grassiness, alcohol. Cloyingly sweet. Meh.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20 bythebottle (1) - Ontario, CANADA - DEC 1, 2004 does not count
First off: Labatt 50, is an ALE.
Secondly: Labatt does not make "Canadian", that’s made by Molson.
When visiting the United States, I noticed that the Labatt and Molson products, taste VERY different than they do in Canada. I tested this theory in Detroit, back in 2003. I purchased a Labatt product in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. Then we rolled across the Ambassador Bridge to Detroit, Michigan. We purchased the same Labatt product there. Reached our ’party’ destination, and compared. Not the same. :o(
Nonetheless, I recommend this brew in bottles over the on-tap fare with regards to taste, appearance and so forth. Personally, I find it much better served in a chilled glass.
When micro’s are unavailable, Labatt 50 is A-OK by me. ;o)
