3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 idbowman82 (62) - Painesville, Ohio, USA - FEB 23, 2008
UPDATED: MAR 20, 2008 Not terrible, though to coin a term, its a bit "lagery" for an ale. A light caramel/amber color with a smallish foamy head. The aroma is somewhat sweet with traces of floral hops, grain, and maybe even just a touch of banana. The taste straightforward, if not simple. Rather dry, some hops, a hint of corn and maybe just a bit of fruitiness. The finish is clean, and is actually quite refreshing. If you’re going to buy from a macrobrewer, this is probably one of the better selections you’ll come across in North America (Boston’s Sam Adams line being the only one that comes to mind better than this offering). Doesn’t come close to touching most micros, but readily available and not too shabby.

I remember watching my Grandfather drink Labatt 50 when I was younger. He really enjoyed his beer. He had to sneak them out of the cold storage since my Grandmother wouldn’t let him have too much. He was diabetic, so he had to watch what he drank and ate. He’d only have a couple each night, but the smile on his face and the 50 label tilting back as he took a drink is what I remember most about him. Now when it comes to myself, I like my beer also. I drink a little more than my Grandfather did, but every time I drink a Labatt 50, I always have a smile. Because I always think about my Grandfather.

(Rating #1444)

Nothing much to say, dry and boring. I was not sure what to expect because I kind of like regular Labatt, but not stale and weak. Oh well, next!

12 oz bottle from LooseCannon. Clear, bubbly, liht gold with a fizzy white head that disappears quickly. Sweet, grainy, corny nose, a bit of floral hop. Bland, grainy corn flavor. A resounding "meh". Yet another crappy macro.

one of Labatt’s better offerings, which isn’t saying a whole lot..the labatt line is essentially fine for quenching thirst while cutting the lawn or raking leaves, while sweating profusely. Better than most American macrobrews--that’s about it.

!2oz bottle from a sampler case. Another beer that looks better than it tastes. If it’s an ale, you have me fooled - looked and tasted more like a lager. The head lasted and left some nice lace, which is good - some decent hoppiness, too. Bright, clear gplden in color. A megabrew attempt at a microbrew?
