2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Looks like I’m one of the few people that likes this beer. I was always told to stay away from this beer, because the 50 in the name refers to the minimum age to drink it. I’m now 52, so I tried it. just kidding. When OKeefe went out of business, I was forced to find a new ale, I tried both Molson Export and Labatt 50 and while I prefer the Molson, there’s nothing wrong with this beer. A nice ale with a mild bitterness.

2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Pours a clear light golden with a small white head that fizzes away somewhat fast and leave some lacing. Nose is of sweet cereals and adjuncts. Taste is of cereals and that’s about it. Body is light, carbonation medium-high and mouthfeel a little watery. Overall this is down there will all the other macro swills. Maybe a tiny hint superior to other Labbat offerings but that is not saying much....

1.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 5/20
Bottle from Wegmans. Different label, it is green. Pours a light gold, with almost no head. Aromas of hops and corn. Watery, bland. Thin. Low boost. Was expecting more.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
In Quebec the beer your uncles and the old dudes in the bar drink. Gold with a thicker than average head for a macro-lager so it looks nice enough. The nose is a bit rough, taste wise it is earthy and less sweet than your average macro which is a plus in my book but ultimately it is somewhat below average. I could see this being a hipster beer in the Pabst Blue Ribbon vein.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Transfer from BA review on 12-31-12-
Poured from bottle into a pint glass
Appearance – Pours a medium golden color with a one finger white head. The head has moderate retention fading to leave only a decent level of lacing.
Smell – The aroma is a mix of malt and a light papery and citrus smell.
Taste – The taste begins with a grainy and light caramel taste. Some notes of a fruity taste come to the tongue as the taste advances mixing with the initial grainy flavors to produce a rather smooth flavor. As the taste goes even further to the end, a light citrus hop and corn flavor come to the tongue and melds well with the smooth bready, grain, and sweet flavors of the brew.
Mouthfeel –The body of the beer was on the average to slightly above average side in terms of its creaminess with a carbonation level that is slightly lower than average. The creamy body accentuated the smoothness of the beer with the lower carbonation only helping it along further.
Overall – I was quite surprised by the brew. While not a flavor powerhouse it was much smoother then I would have expected and was quite easy drinking and enjoyable.

Bottle from Strathroy Alehouse August 2013. Horrible wet straw aroma and a flavour that leaves a lot to be desired.

Bit better than some other macros I’ve had. Pale clear yellow pour with minimal head which disappears with no residue. Slight sweetness in the flavour. Light semi watery body with average carbonation.

2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
This isn’t terrible. Just boring. Goes down smooth like most macros. This has sweet grain aromas and flavors. That’s it.

2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
341ml bottle. Clear golden with a thin foamy white head. Flavors are pale malts, sugar and caramel with floral notes. Light citrusy hops and bitterness. Medium body, fizzy carbonation, smooth texture. The best swill you can get.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
A staple of the Kraft dinner days of college revisited at a dive bar. Golden colour and a quickly vanishing head of fizz give way graininess and a small bit of DMS. High carbonation is masking any subtle flavouring as is the cold temperature, which is likely for the best. Flavour is all pale malt and grain. Finishes off quickly and unmemorable. Similar to running into an ex-girlfriend and then wondering what you were thinking all those years ago that made you stick around for so long.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
