2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 Metalchopz (1429) - Quebec, CANADA - JAN 18, 2012
Originally rated October 2005. Bought this one in a single can at a convenient store in Montreal. Comes in a very nice simple designed 355mL can, which is all silver with blue writting and huge barcodes. Pours a golden honey colour with a big white foamy head, composed of tiny bubbles. The lacing left is very good, all over. Retention is pretty damn good too. Lively carbonation is medium in bubble size. The scent is malty with touches of herbs. After breathing, alcohol and corn comes out. Lightly-bodied mouthfeel. The taste starts off with a mix of honey and malt to then finish smoothly with some light hop and corn. Kind of dry finish with alcohol very well hidden. Gets the job done though.

2009-01-13. Yellow body, modes white head and lace. Odd aroma, very brief pleasant sweetness quickly gives way to rough industrial alcohol character. Flavour is surprisingly mild, rough alcohol comes in waves, extremely mild pale malts and what tastes like adjuncts but surprisingly errs on the side of bland and boring rather than offensive, aside from the boozy character. Average palate borders on thin. My 1500th Canadian rating! (Perhaps a sad commentary on my dedication to try as many Canadian ratings as possible??? heh.) Bottle from random Petro-Canada service station in Quebec.

Wow the varieties of Labatt Blue! Ontario only has two.
Sticky golden yellow with off white yellowish head... okay this is getting scarry! Aroma of wet bar towel and grain; rancid grain. Flavour is a swirl of sweetness and grain and crud. The alcoholic finish and syrupy stickiness are most unsettleing ... 900 mL to go now.

UPDATED: AUG 25, 2005 I’m prety damb shure {bassed on taste}this is diffrent from the blue dry 7.1 avalible in 40oz bottles, as this one is avalivle only in 12 oz cans. Nice can. Grey can with large blue enlargments of the barcode. Cute, like it’s serious about getting you drunk. Pours a pale gold with kinda high carbonation, thin head. Aroma is prety malty, earthy, herbal and a little hoppy. Palate is kinda sandy, and a little dry. Taste is realy nice for a malt liquor. Earth/nutty/roasty malt dominates the flavour, with some notes of corn and sogrum, slight hit of juniper and a kick of grassy hop. Undertones of corn alcohol, corn starch, herbs, tin, acorn, golden wheat and just a smahs of potato alcohol. Aftertaste is earthy and boosy. As it warms up, alcohol makes a larger aperance, sour plum makes a shout, and near the end it’s just skany and boosy. It’s a malt liquor, what can I say. It’s a good malt liquor, but stilll a malt liquor. Come is packs of 4.
1.4 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20 garthicus (2090) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 13, 2010
Thanks to Jerc & Mabel. GIANT can, 950ml. Appearance: Light orange with a tiny white head, no visible carbonation. Aroma: Corn, plastic, damp, mildew, sweat. Flavour: Corn, lots of corn, cheap corn, like the stuff the battery hens won’t eat, sharp salty flavour with an alcoholic undertone.

So Labatt, and Molson’s too, why have five different versions of this gasoline you call beer floating around? As if the discerning homeless drunk isn’t trying to get wasted too fast, and thusly chooses the more attractive seven-point-one version? Out of curiousity I bought one.... and if I spend more time on this continent I might end up trying them all, just out of a sheer morbid fascination. Comes in a 1.18L bottle, enough beer to kill your dog if you’re not careful. Pours with a little head and a boring bright gold body. Aroma of cardboard and grass. Flavour is vague paperish notes, followed by a watery finish. Extra points because it’s drinkable despite the alcohol, and you won’t notice it as it goes down - and that’s about all you can say that’s positive about this one.

Massive can [950ml] shared with HogTownHarry, garthicus, jerc, mabel & GregClow -- c/o j&m. Pours a clear pale gold with a small somewhat-lasting white head. Aroma of alcohol, vegetables, garbage, fusel and grain -- soooo bad. Watery flavour is sugary sweet, vegetal, corny and boozy. Light bodied. Awful, another garbage beer tonight.

Can- Another gem found while on my adventures in Gatinneau. Pours a sparkling gold, with a short lived fizzy head. Grainy fuesel aroma with grassy, vegetal hints. Very sweet flavour of grains, corn, some grassy hops and corn flakes. Finishes sweet and alcoholic. I’ve had worse.

Tub - okay, CAN ( 950ml ). Shared by jerc and mabel with me, blankboy, garthicus and gregclow. Pale yellow, small sticky white frothy head. Ugly, ugly vegetal poop smell - like someone drank a bottle of rubbing alcohol, ate weeds and about 2 kilograms of plastic bags, then pooped it out - turned my stomach man. Taste is not horrific - heather, corn, plastic, rice wine - fusel and cheap. Light body, stingingly carbonated, boozy as hell - lord this is shit.

[2691-20100113] 950mL can. Dry wood shavings aroma. Clear, yellow body with a medium-lasting creamy white head. Straw-like dry wood flavour. Light-medium body. Not offensive yet, certainly not great.
Overheard: "Ooooh, Good Lord that’s ugly." -- smelling his glass
