COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Introduced in 1954, Blue Star was awarded the Gold Medal of Leadership in Munich. A popular Newfoundland lager, Blue Star is aged for smoothness and delivers a full, smooth body and a slight ester aroma by using unique taste and aroma characteristics from German Hallertau hops.

I see a lot of hate on here for Blue Star. I must say it is very similar to other Canadian lagers however that being said it is up near the top of that class , Labatt makes it so it tastes a little like Blue and Schooner lager. Light body with the slightest floral aftertaste. That is how I like most beer uncomplicated. If you are not in Newfoundland Blue Star is a rare treat.

I don’t think its as bad as Labatt Blue but its close. This is another great Newfoundland beer that has been rendered unrecognizable by Labatt’s and Molsons. Nothing to describe here its just a weak Lager.

Bottle in St. John’s. Pale yellow with a fizzy white head. Aroma of hops, grain and corn. Grainy flavour with a bit of sweetness. Standard domestic pale lager, although for it’s type, it isn’t terrible.

I think this was the first Newfie beer I bought when I moved to Newfoundland. Sucked back 12 and chilled out in my apartment’s office room. It’s really bland in taste, but not offensive. Easy to suck back 12 or more as a result. If it’s cold and one comes your way, it’s definitely a plus. I think it’s definitely better than what people have said on here.
