Canada macro... only had from the can... no idea what it looks or smells like. Taste is lacking, very thin and watery.

My boy blue was poured directly from the bottle and was an even body of water with a blend of hops and marley and a little alchol to round out this Canadian macro brew.

Tastes slightly better than your typical macro brew. Was light in color, aroma, and flavor. The flavor was a little stronger than what you would get with a Bud, Miller, or Coors. Not special but I would take it over the aforementioned three.

Bottle. 5%. Pours a clear yellow with a weak white foam, little retention. Aroma is quite sweet, fruits and grains. Taste is fruity, barley and malts. Finish is a little sour tasting, but drinkable on a cold day. Unbelievable that this is brewed here in Edmonton, and you have to scrounge to find it on tap. Then again, I wouldn’t order it.

I’ve had this many times while in the US and Canada - usually while underage. A lot of people will say it tastes better in Canada... which is true, because you’re in Canada, and it’s cool... and it sucks in America... and Canada. Meh.

Like many before her, she filled my glass with a thin golden yellow which sports a thin head that wastes no time disappearing into oblivion. Where do heads go when they die? Some may scoff at my continuous observations of a beers head, but I have good reason. Real brewers work very hard to ensure that their beer brewed with love has a gorgeously seductive head of foam to present both an enticing visual and to enhance the nose of said beer. Scientifically speaking, the head of a beer is the most complex and least understood element of beer. While her head disappears, her nose makes a play for my attentions which results in heavy concentration. Digging deep, I can barely detect some white breads, lemon, lemon cream, and crisp uncooked summer corn. My first quaff is an explosion of tightly packed carbonation and watery lemon juice which scours the top of my tongue like a ten cent brillo pad. It lingers with a bitter after-effect reminiscent of lemon extract while her thin mouthfeel flounders in a sea of airy wonder bread. Ever taken a loaf of wonder bread and made a golf ball out of it? That’s just not natural or right, which is my point when I compare wonder bread esters and flavors in a beer. I had zero qualms drain-pouring this beer.

Thankfully, I have some bottles of Unibroue in my cellar to crack open and reclaim Canada’s proud brewing namesake. I’d love to be able to reach into my cellar and grab some Dieu de Ciel, but they are rather hard to get in my neck of the woods.

What’s to say about this... It’s Labatt Blue. Hardly an upscale or gourmet beer but if its hot outside, and the beer is cold, then it’s gonna go down just fine. Don’t expect alot of flavor or depth of course but if I gotta choose between Bud, Canadian, or Blue... It’s Blue.
