COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Labatt Genuine Honey is a naturally aged lager. The combination of Pure Canadian Honey, no preservatives and 5% alcohol make it a genuinely smooth and refreshing Premium Honey Lager.

Dark gold colour with creamy white head. Corny aroma with little honey in aroma. Crisp amlt and adjuncts with sweet honey finish. Tin aftertaste. This sucks. Jan. 2005.

Yah, this has been done a few (hundred) times. Trying to get a piece of the honey lager pie, can’t let one of the small guys (Lakeport) earn too much. Surprisingly clean tasting, but nonetheless, still very bad.

TFOB. Hooray, I didn’t have to buy a 6 pack! Really really bad rancid sweet "aroma" (smell). Dark yellow pour. Taste is better than the smell in that it is only slightly offensive - there some surprising light malt taste covered up by the cloying honey sweetness. This could have turned out worse but that hardly makes it worth talking about of God forbid recommending.

Bottle sample at TFOB 2005. Reddish-gold colour. Macro lager aroma of grains and hay with a nasty, almost rancid honey note. Flavour isn’t quite as bad as the aroma, but it’s still no great shakes, just a typical mass-produced industrial lager with some honey thrown in. Yawn...

Golden ywllow, smallish white head. Muted honey and grains in the aroma. Fairly balnd, bit of sweetness and a touch of macro hops in the finish. Inoffensive , sweet and boring. What you’d expect really.

Bottled. Light for a honey brown. Head goes quick, very little lacing. Fairly typical of your domestic. Similar to Lakeport in many ways, tastes a bit more refined. Fizzy, bitter, carbonated, faint honey. Does fine for large parties, cheap and decent.

341ml brown bottle. Pours a surprising light amber. Trace layer of white foam on surface. Honey aroma is ever so slight, slight sulphur note as well. Fizzy. Lightly sweet, trace honey flavour. Corny aftertaste.

Cheap and bland, all the way down there with Lakeport swill honey. Same price, same swill? Is competition really make the best product, not in this case.

UPDATED: AUG 24, 2005 Draught "recommended with appetizer" at Fionn MacCool’s. *DREADFUL* Pours a nice reddish amber, little bubbling, minimal very white tiny-bubbled head, but fairly prominent drapes of lacing. Downhill from here. Aroma - what there is of it - is sickly malty-sweet, nasty grainy, perhaps honey-ish (probably just suggested by the name). Taste - ohmygawd - like a bad Labatt’s Blue (yes, I said that) - grainy, some stale hops and sour, clapped-out malt - with an overpowering shitty, fake honey taste pounding my taste buds. Palate - well, at least it is quick to diminish. But hey, it’s "$25 for a 2-4!" - another abomination by our friends at the "L"
