Bottle... It looks like cola; smells a lot like cola; tastes every bit as cloyingly sweet and fizzy as cola. Must be cola... diet cola. Hideous!

I blame CapFlu. At the store he told me "Hey that one’s pretty good eh" - it’s not. Has some strange plastic sweetness in the aroma, grassy and moldy as well. The flavor is pure sweetness, with a maple syrup and vanilla taste that’s dominated by a nutrasweet/aspertaine nastyness everywhere.

carbonated soft drink. Carbonation initial hit and then tails off to Syrupy drink and dry syrupy sweet aftertaste. And actual porter. Maybe their best beer. Like malt beverage. Nice colour in glass. Decent bit of porter aroma. Could use something. And less sweetness.

Bottle: Pours a dark brown color, no where near black. The nose is metallic and malty with more of a dark amber malt than porter quality. Lacking the deep darkies. Sweet raison and molasses notes in the flavor and a distinct cheapness in the hop department. Sug!

Black ruby tinged body, small thin khaki head. Sweet candyish malt aroma. Flavour is very sweet malt. Not really getting the cola profile others found, but I can see where they might say it. Muted malt it vaguely reminds me of the Sleeman porter but blander and much sweeter. Average macro palate is slightly undercarbonated which is probably why it scores lower but its not really anyworse than many others. The beer is pretty mediocre, but I think it slaked a thirst on a hot day and thus endeared itself to me more than it might on other occassions. Intriguing coming from Labatt.

My first Porter with Twist Off cap! Light sweet, medium dark malt, soft creamy coffee (a la Paradiso). Brown pours medium creamy head. Very sweet porter, almost like Okocim Porter, but less the substance and alcohol. To sweet malts add plenty of minerals . Short malted finish . As it get warmer sweetness is subdued by roasted choco . To bad it had thin body .

Bottled. Aroma of cola, toffee and a hint of roastiness. Black, beige head, few lace. Sweet, cola start that soon turns to toffee, hint of licorice and butterscotch. Who buys this stuff? Pilsnerdrinkers that like something ’special’ no and then? Old folkes like Oud Bruin in Holland?

Bottle (341ml). Thanks to blankboy for digging up this living fossil in Québec. Poured dark bubbly reddish-brown with a decent rocky quick-diminishing very light tan head. Aroma sweet mildly roast malt, plenty of metal (steel, if you care), maybe a hint of chocolate milk, and very weirdly some rhubarb greens (sour). Taste - oh my god, this isn’t beer - reminds me of Yoohoo mixed even-up with root beer - sweet and sticky and fizzy and NOT BEER. At least I can’t taste the metal in the nose. Weird, not awful, but just a curiosity - and way too fizzy to be a porter.
