Bottle from trade. I cut my teeth on this brew in the 70s revisiting it after pouring oceans of craft and Brit porter over my tongue is ,as with all your teen beers, always a letdown. This was a sweet beer with light roast to it thin mouth and fast finish with a near cloying after taste ...the product of molasses and some brewers caramel...not a real porter in any sense.

12 oz bottle. Pours a clear thin looking caramel brown body with a very small fizzy light brown head that completely vanished. The nose is pretty grainy with a hefty dose of sweet nuttiness, not unlike Nutella. Some light chocolate syrup and cola notes as well. Very sweet and adjunct laden flavor, it’s like weak coffee dosed with corn syrup. Grainy and thin with a cloying sticky finish. Fizzy forced carbonation. This was pretty horrible.

Black-brown with a flat tan cap. Very metallic aroma with sweet brown-sugar notes. Yeeesh! This stuff is very sweet, like glucose syrup really. I know others have said it is "cola-like", but only in its overbearing sweetness. There is a hint of roast at the start, but it is quickly forgotten as this becomes cloying and unpleasant. A disservice to the style.

341 ml bottle from Broue Ha Ha, served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass.

App.: Deep brown-black with a frail light mocha head. Aroma: Light tang with some decent chocolate notes, some grain/cereal, smells sweet. Palate: Medium-light body with moderate effervescence, a bit watery. Flav.: Weak vaguely chocolatey kinda odd sweet gross malts, nondescript fruitiness, not very good; oddly sweet with no bitterness to speak of and a strange sweet malt beverage finish.

I could resist trying this throwback. Now that I’ve tried it, I can’t resist throwing it out.

Pours like cola. Aroma is corny and sickly sweet. Flavor very very sweet and watery. Tastes like water with brown sugar mixed in. Not good. Tastes a bit flat after initial carbonation.

12oz bottle poured into a shaker glass. LP pours medium brown-colored with a pretty small head. This beer looks pretty similiar to cola. The aroma is light and light mineral water. This is a really bad porter. It is really light and definitely macro built.

Eructoblaster (2122) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - FEB 17, 2005
Black body with reddish glints and a thin beige bubbly head that fades quickly. Thin and boring lagerish aroma of malt and hops that do not corresponds to what we should expect from a real porter. This really tastes like a mix of flat cola and maple water. Not a beer, and even less a porter... Should be retired from the market.

Glad I still have my notes for this - sampled June 11, 2004, purchased in Cap Rouge, QC, assuming it’s the 2003 version. Dark brown colour with a frothy and fizzy fully diminishing off-white head. Cola-type look. Hmmm...a porter that smells vaguely like a malt liquor, that can’t be good. Grainy, corn, vinous, and alcohol aroma. No roast, no coffee, no chocolate. This is almost as bad as calling Keith’s an IPA. Corn, red wine, and cola flavours, and a weird rubbery-type finish. Oily and slightly syrupy mouthfeel.

deep brown, white head. aroma of raisins, sugar and not good. some mild chocolately flavours, but as sweet as a can of coke. no bitterness to be found anywhere. just bad
