COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Labatt Select is brewed to be light, and has a unique taste with only 99 calories per bottle and 4.2% alcohol by volume. Fermented longer at lower temperatures to give a smooth, clean taste, Select uses unique North American aromatic hops that impart a delicate flavour and aroma. Lightly roasted specialty malt contributes to the overall body and balance of this unique product, providing a delicate hop aroma and flavour that is complemented by a soft finish.

Given the type of beer this is (macrobrew/ultra light) this beer is excellent. Don’t expect a Blue/light flavor - this tastes more like a lite version of Labatt Crystal. If your choices are this, Mic Ultra, Bud Select, Miller lite, etc, go for this.

It pours a light golden color. It’s very clean and clear with a good amount of carbonation that makes a big white head. It has lots of big bubbles that leave great lacing on the glass. A light cereal, like rice chex makes up the aroma and flavor. There seems to be some faint grassy hops in the flavor as well. Fizzy carbonation gives it a bit of a bite on the tongue. The finish is quick clean and dry. Overall I would say that it has the most flavor of the low carbohydrate beers.

very mediocre amongst the throng of new low carb beers. Highly carbonated and it encounters the same problem the other low carb beers do. Very little flavor.

My first low carb beer. Very bubbley yellow color with a small white head. Corn aroma and flavor. Strong carbonation.

I guess for low carb it isn’t bad but.. Pours a nice yellow with a head that disappears in seconds. Way over-carbonated, which distracted from the taste.

Pailhead (3449) - Plymouth, Michigan, USA - JAN 31, 2005
Bottle: Aroma is rather sweet with lots of corn. Pours a transparent gold (actually more gold than their standard beers) with a quickly diminishing white head. Tastes like a low carb beer with sugar in it. Can be sugar though, must be sucrulose. No real hops at all. Just sweet from start to finish. You could do worse for a low carb beer.

I have to go along with most of the others here and say that this is a very poor beer. I would have to be very thirsty and have no other selections available before I chose Labatt Select.

hotstuff (3249) - Indiana, USA - FEB 20, 2005
Bottle. Small white head that was mostly lasting, fine-small sized bubbles, sparse lacing, carbonated, transparent, and a yellow hue. Aroma was malty and very skunky. Yucko. Malty and some hops in the flavor. Tingly palate. Not recommended.

Radek Kliber (5308) - Toronto (Can) Krotoszyn (Pol), POLAND - APR 9, 2004
Very pale gold looking beer, with small white head. Light, slightly medicinal aroma, notes of some cheap malt. Thin body, watery lager. Annoying flavor, or whatever is left here.

This bottled brew poured a small sized head of foamy fine to medium sized mostly diminishing white colored bubbles that left behind a fair lacing. The body contained average carbonation, was transparent and yellow orange in color. Its aroma contained notes of astringent mild grasses and malts . Its mouth feel is initially astringent and bitter. Its flavor contained malty hoppy grassy astringent notes and was horrible. Not one I would buy again.
