COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Abbatiale Blonde is a triple fermented “Abbey style” beer. It is brewed with Juniper berries, using an old middle age recipe. It has golden colour, rich foam and provide a very aromatic first smell due to juniper berries and a secret mix of spices “bouquet” which give a very interesting trendy new taste. This premium golden ale is smooth, round and sweet, so ideal for aperitif. As Vivat triple, It has been rewarded in 2008, by the “Concours agricole de Paris” by a golden medal. Available in 750 and 330 ml bottles + any ceramic bottles

Formerly: L’Abbatiale de Saint-Amand Blonde.

Sep 2011: 0.75cl Cork and caged brown bottle poured slowly into three different glases: 2 clear bodies the last somewhat cloudy due to the sediment getting out of the bottle into that glass. The beer was blonde with just a thin showing for a head. I wasn’t overly keen on this beer to be honest, it offered little in the way of smell or flavour. You could clearly pick up Belgian style yeastiness in both aroma and taste but otherwise not much of anything: even the alcohol content seemed subdued.

750ml corked bottle pours pale golden in color with an abundant white head which settled slowly to some thin lacing on the glass. Aroma is fruity with some yeast and earthy notes. Taste is fruity with a malty sweetness and a little yeast and an earthy hop bitterness. Light to medium body and spritzy carbonation give a pleasing mouthfeel. Quite a nice experience.

Bottled. Slightly hazy yellowish golden colour with a small foamy white head. Also some particles floating around. Aroma is fruity, quite herbal and earthy along with some yeast and mild spices. Flavour is being quite similar, ut the maltyness is quite much stronger than in the aroma.

Bottled, 750ml cork & caged from Carrefour, Coquelles, France. Wheat yellow with white head. Initially quite a sweet, thinnish, light beer but with a hint of jam and a touch of sourness. The mouthfeel never improves, but the jammy note gives it some body in a way. Nothing too special but is of interest.

500mL ceramic bottle, pours a more or less clear golden yellow with a towering white head. Various spices and strong yeast dominate the nose, with a little banana and citrus. Flavour is less invigorating, with light yeast, spices and (I agree with manuchampions) something reminiscent of cheap corn adjuncts. Still decent.

50cl ceramic bottle from 16th St. Liquor in West Vancouver. Pours a very light yellow with thick, pillowy white head that reduces quickly to and persistent half inch. Aroma is slightly juniper laced, spicy, light yeast and some barnyard. Taste is somewhat sweet, almost corn adjunct notes which detract from the flavour, some yeast and little of the juniper nose in the palate. Finish is crisp and mildly hoppy, some alcohol warmth. Not what I had hoped for.

Creamy white head. The aroma and flavour is yeasty with vague notes of spices. Malty sweetness. Fair ale.

Sparkling white head. Lively carbonation. Aromas of malts, hops, bananas and kind of ash. Long and fruity finish.
