Bottle 330ml. @ home.

Clear dark red brown colour with a average to large, frothy and open, good lacing, mostly lasting, light beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, chocolate, wood, smoke, berry tart notes. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, wood, smoke, ash, tart something !, bruwn sugary, berry - fruit. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20130207]

Bottle, lot 440. Starts out of the bottle as soon as the crown is cracked. Pours a dark wooden brown, almost black with a thick and stylish, large, latte-colored head. Aroma is quite smoky, some smoked ham as well. You can detect whiffs of the yeast as well: Floweriness, yeasty funk of caramel marzipan and apricots, funky. Taste is semi-sweet with caramel and marzipan. Quite smoky and notes of wooden flavor are present as well. Palate is medium, not much carbonation.

Bouteille 33 cl de Brune, Rousse, Houblon - Nice (F). Bière brune foncée à mousse hyperactive collant au verre. Nez profond de tourbe et fumée, réglisse, cuir et tabac. Le goût est puissant, très relevé tourbe et fumée, avec du goudron et cendre. Acidulée, poivrée et chocolatée, avec tout plein de caramel brûlé. Bière assez surprenante et riche, très goûteuse, même un peu anesthésiant les papilles, avec une finale interminable. Sort des chemins battus, bravo !

Another gusher from LaBelle. I really don’t want to clean my flour on every beer, thank you. On the positive side, it has an awesome label. Pours a dark brown body and light tan head. Cacao aroma, rustic malts, farmhouse yeast, even some funk and a toast like appeal. Decent. Taste is more chocolate with softer brown sugar and a nice rustic cake like ending. Some smoke here too. Smooth rich, mouth filling brew. Much better than expected. Really nice actuality. (33cl bottle from Biere Revolution)

bottle from Saveur-Biere.com. Hazy deep brown colour, mid-sized beige head. Smoky nose. Full-bodied, malty with lots of dark malts, roasted malts and smoked malt. Delicious, dark and smoky!

(33 cl bottle from Saveur Bière; Lot 440; BBD: April 2014) Pours black with huge, tan head. Decent retention, beautiful lace and decent regeneration. Gusher. Aroma is peaty, herbal raincoat and becomes increasingly smoky as the head winds down. Exciting. Oily texture, medium carbonation, medium to light body with a sharp, boozy finish from what I presume is heavily roasted malts? Flavour is most of all ascorbic acidic and somewhat boozy but also has dark and smoky aroma notes. The tart influence seems deliberate and makes the beer a little imbalanced in my opinion but refreshingly different from other smoked beers that can sometimes be a bit bacon malty cloying. The flavour makes it quite an assertive if not outright agressive beer but in a different way than all those heavy bodied imperial stouts. Definitely a sipper.

Bottle at Alex. Hazy red-brown coloured with a small off-white head. Fruity and peated aroma of caramel and smoke. Fruity and peated flavour of caramel, smoke and hops. Smoked finish.

Dark brown color, almost black, with creamy head. Nice smoked aroma, roasted malts, fire. Very good smoke presence, strong; some roasted malts; smooth mouthfeel.

33 cL bottle, thanks to fiulijn. Pours hazy dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma is smoked and dark roasted malty. Bitter, toasted malty and smoked. Dry and roasted malty into a dry and smoked finish.
