3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 mpersinger (301) - , USA - NOV 12, 2011
Thanks joet for sharing this bottle. Pour is murky and cola-colored with off-white halo. I get robusta coffee and brettanomyces aromatics. The distinct smoky flavor is like the like the smokiness from guajillo peppers (no heat). Coffee and cherry cola nose then deep smoke mid-palate, with hoppy mildly-bitter finish and some alcohol warmth. May be contaminated, or another ambitious offering?

33cl long kneck bottle with a beautiful label which reminds some gangster movies. Deep dark beer with a generous brown foam. The nose is smoked which is not a big surprise because this beer is brewed with peated malt. The taste is smoked like the nose with some touch of fruits, caramel and coffee. My favourite one from LaBelle product range!!

33cl, bottled. Dark brown beer with a small foamy head. Aromas of smoke and fruits. Flavors of strong malts, chocolate. Long notes persist in the aftertaste

Bottle 33cl, a dark beer with huge head. Nose is smoked and yeast like. Aroma is malty, sweet, very smoked with nice malty and ash notes, a pleasant smoked beer, some light fruit notes, caramel, very long smoked notes on aftertaste with bitter hops. Good for a non german one, needs more caramel body to be great.

Dark brown in color, the nose is intense and concentrated. The first nose is marked by phenolic fruit (ripe pear?). It operates in the smoke. The palate is powerful, with a frank attack on the settlement. Peat appears on the finish with a subtle peppery note.
The finish is long is persistent with notes of wooded ash.

fine smoke flavors, creamy, exuberant presentation, creamy, electric feel, minerally, chickory, fruit, significant hop bitterness, dark brown, thin fine brown foam, metallic - aluminum, intersting smoke in the nose, back of the throat, some coffee notes, so interesting. it was a gusher but I’m not getting typical signs of infection. A very strange and interesting brew.

11.2oz bottle, courtesy of joet. Thanks, Joe! Pours a murky, cola-brown color; fine-bubbled light-tan head. Really nice smoked malt character in the nose, like a soft, spicy rauchbier. Quite aromatic and endearing. Medium body; moderate CO2. A nice smoky, cola-driven core with a white peppery note and, again, a very nice smoke quality: mineral, firewood, a touch of char. Damn tasty. Lingering smoke and a nice touch of mineral in the finish.
