3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Aubrey (3193) - Bellingham, Washington, USA - APR 18, 2011
Rich and tasty brown ale, but far too sweet for me. This was like a dessert beer (it was hard for me to even finish the taster). The beer is loaded with sticky-sweet caramel, and it has lesser notes of bread, toffee and brown sugar. Worty. Mild bitterness (not nearly enough to counteract all that sweetness). Some pleasant spicy notes in the background. Overall, it’s a tasty beer, but it’s just too sweet and unbalanced.

6/28/08 On draught at the Brewpub. Aroma is malt and very roasty, almost munich, and has a light PNW hop balance. Appearance is hazy brown with a moderate tan head and lacing. Flavor is roast sweet malt forward with low bittering and very light sourness. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a medium-high carb texture that give a slight tartness. Overall, good and complex and very easy drinking for a hot day.
