2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
UPDATED: NOV 13, 2003 Having had a fresher pint of this more recently at the brewery I had to bump up my score a touch, because the beer is actually rather well balanced, it's just that the malt just isn't that tasty. I'd like to see them experiment a bit with this, try out some different variety of grains. 8/22/02 - 2.6 At first I was pleasantly surprised by this beer, really heavily malted--especially for an ESB, but rather tasty. Towards the end of the glass the beer started taking on a very unpleasant bitter flavor and the hops and malt clashed hard core on the palate. This is a brew battle I don't feel like partaking in again any time soon. Drink it while it's cold or you may be subject to some seriously fowl flavors.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours an orangish-brown color with very little head and some spotty lacing down the glass.
Aroma is or oranges, hops, and malt.
Taste is quite solid yet complex. It's more on the "malt" side of a balance, but bitter enough to keep it real. There's a definite fruit presence; a cross between arpicot and orange. Perhaps a bit of butterscotch as well.
Palate has a nice mineral feel to it that others seem to lack. This is nice and creamy as well. Overall this is a very nice ESB and worth seeking out. As with all the brews I've had from this brewery, I wish I could get it locally.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Orangy amber in color, big frothy head and a nice sweet hoppy aroma. Sweet malty body with some decent hop bitterness but not a lot of finishing hops used.

2.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Orange in color with a large white head. Mostly hoppy aroma with a faint bit of malt. A bit of citrus, a bit of grass, a little floral character, and some sticky malt aroma. Quite a sharp bitterness really made it difficult to drink after about half a pint.

3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Medium brown, big white head that fads leaving a nice lacing on the glass. Nice sweet malt aroma that stands out over the hops earthy smell. Sweet medium bodied with a strait out bitterness at the end.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap at the brewpub. Red-amber color in pint glass with almost no head. Smell fresh and fruity, light caramel, bread and pine hops. Tastes of sweet red fruit with a lightly bitter and crisp finish. Body is extremely smooth with a soft effervescence. This beer can easily be gulped rather than sipped.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
A very good beer. It has a nice malty aroma followed by a similar taste. I havenít had many ESBís in my time, but this is the best Iíve had yet. Not much head on the beer, but the amber tones in the color are excellent.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Well balanced with good malt character. The aroma is slightly cellar like with a strong catty component. It is a little like smelling a litter box from a distance. Purchased in Bellingham WA from a Hagen grocery store.
