Sample at GABF 2014. Comes reddish brown with a small off-white head. Aroma of fruit, wood, and alcohol. Taste is tart fruit, barrel, alcohol, and a bit of funk. Nice.

Tap@ Ladyface. Clear red copper color with no head. Big tart dark fruit, cherry lemon, wet wood aromas. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Very nice wet wood, spicy cabernet wine flavors with tart dark fruits, lemon, and some dark caramel sweetness----very tasty sour___

Cask at Ladyface. Flat, clear red tea pour. No lace. Nose is incredible vanilla, buttery cake, bourbon barrel. Taste follows suit with rum cake, shortbread, bourbon barrel abounding. Moderate blackberry juice acidity. Dry finish is par for the course for Ladyface with their heavily efficient house yeast. Tart berry juice and lingering butter save this from being overly dry and tannic mouth puckering.

(Draught) Pours a murky amber-brown body with a small off-white head. Aroma of caramel, cherries, vinous. coconut, wood, and vanilla. Flavor of vanilla, wood, caramel, cherry, some citrus, and raisins with a dry finish.

UPDATED: JAN 1, 2013 On tap at the brewpub. Normally there beers are served a bit cold, but not near frozen. This was. Served icy cold. Poured with a hazed red hued body with a lasting white head. Once warmed: aromas of red wine, cherry pit, lacto, leather, medium funk, esters, dates, medium oak and some alcohol. Flavors are acidic, medium acetic acid, medium to medium low malt presence, dry. Red wine, funk at a medium. Low tannin. Some warmth, slightly tannic finish, lively carbonation, dry.
Sourfest. Would have given it a slightly lower score. Pours with a murky, orange hued body with a small tan head. Aromas show a huge raw oak vanillin, red wine, currants, fruit, low funk. Flavors are medium tart with tons and tons of oak. Dark fruit, vanillin, wood, low funk. Mildly acetic, medium bubbles, dry.

Draft, dark reddish brown our. Sweetness, cherry, lemon, lightly finky, and tart. Some barrel character. Rather thin, but still decent.

Pours a murky dark orange/amber color with an off-white head. The lactic acidity comes through nicely up front, lots of lemon to it. Only a mild funkiness with some oak, red wine, and a bit of must. A solid aroma. The flavor is kind of a let down. It’s a bit watery, but it is moderately tart with some grape, cherry, and lemon fruitiness. A little bit of oak and wine flavor, but very minimal funk. Would have been really good if not for the watered down flavor.
