An adaptation of an English Pale Ale reflecting indiginous ingredients and West Coast flavors. Moderately hopped, showing a citrusy hop character with medium-bodied balance.

Darker in appearance than expected.Aroma and Flavor have some hops but the earthy malts take over more than i would like.

A really wonderful IPA. Plenty of citrus and pine in the aroma, but the flavor breaks out some vegetal craziness that I wasn’t expecting. Really a delicious beverage that I wouldn’t mind having over and over again.

Draught at the pub on my birthday. Thanks for not cranking this IPA up to an 11. This was a pleasantly mild IPA that had nice citrusy hops with some pith included and a nice balance with sweeter malt. Very easy drinking and not palate-crushing bitterness...sometimes that’s nice.

Pours a hazed dark golden with light amber highlights from a 64oz. growler shared by iowaherkeye (thanks, Joey!) at the Stone Brewing Oakquinox event at their World Bistro and Gardens (Escondido, CA): Nose of effervescent citrus peel, mangos and perfumey floral hops backed up by some caramel malts. Flavors of soft pine, chewy dough, pink grapefruit meat, earthy bitters, caramel, tropical fruit, and light lemon zest. Really enjoyable. Nice. Drinkability: Impressively doesn’t try to reinvent the IPA style, but rather complements it. Pairing: Fried chicken. Comfort foods. Rebuy: Yeah. #419 on 20042010, DG.

Tap at Ladyface. Minimally hazed golden orange with a one finger off-white head, fading to a thin tattered film and thick clingy ring before long. Easily roused head, tattered lacing. Grapefruit and orange rind hop nose dominating with some sprucy pine tips following. Just a little biscuity malt noted, not much sweetness so far. Flavor actually adds a tinge of toasty malts with the biscuity backbone. Pretty dry with plenty of the aforementioned hops, mostly of the citrus variety. Bitterness peaked at a 5 in the dry finish. Moderate prickly carbonation with a light to medium body. Very nice IPA, especially at 5.9% ABV.

Draugt at the brewpub. Hazy light amber with a sticky white head. Lots of fresh hops in the aroma, with a lot of pine and sap, and mint and mango. The flavor is softly piney and round with a smooth but strong bitterness in the finish. The malt is a little toasty with a touch of caramel but just a touch. Dry overall but with a nice medium body to support the hops. The works the dank and piney hops pretty well, with a bright tropical fruit underlay. I dig it. Ladyface has definitely impressed me so far, with an admittedly small but quality spread of beers.

UPDATED: JAN 14, 2010 On tap at the source. Pours with a golden hued body and a foamy white head with good retention and lace. Aroma is a whole spectrum of hops: pine, tangerine, orange rind, mango, and a bit of the light stickiness I associate with crystal hops. Some caramel notes as well. Taste is pine up front, then a slightly herbal-earthy note, finished up with citrus and tropical fruits. Medium carbonation, well attenuated with a clean finish and little lingering bitterness. Very nice!

On tap for my brother’s birthday. Poured a dark gold/amber. Aroma and flavor came across much more like an IPA than an English Pale Ale. Quite good. Aroma of citrus, flowers, caramel, with a slight sugariness. Flavor was the same. Well balanced and quite hoppy for the EPA style. A bit tingly in the finish which was nice. Very nice beer.
