COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Window of Opportunity is our 2012 Great American Beer Festival PRO-AM entry. Homebrewer Mike Mraz took Best of Show at this year’s AHA-Sanctioned Mayfaire Competition and one of his prizes was to brew his recipe at Ladyface. The result is a Belgian Golden Strong ale with honey and untoasted almond flavors, and light fruit and banana Belgian yeast character.

Sampled at GABF 2012. Of the two LA area pro-am beers this falls behind Eagle Rock’s Eradicator Jr. A bit of a muddle with now primary flavor focus. Some stone fruit tastes to me.

Draught. Pours with a clear, deeper golden hued body with a lasting white head. Aromas are grainy, bready, toasty, lightly nutty. Low phenol, medium ester, dry apple, light pear and under-ripe plum. Flavors are on the sweeter side of things. Medium grainy, malty, light fruit, peppery yeast. Mild hop flavor with low bitterness. Fuller carbonation, medium body.

Pours a clear golden amber color with a soapy white head. A fairly bread forward nose with strong fruit aromas. Lots of banana, pear, and tropical fruits. A fairly strong spice note and some mild yeast. There’s a hint of tartness on the palate, some strong biscuit notes, pear, and lots of banana. Some notes of candi sugar and a touch of yeast. The spices are not quite as pronounced as they are on the nose, but some notes of coriander and nutmeg. Kind of thinned bodied with somewhat light carbonation.
