COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The revival of a unique English stout, This brew combines five malts with 10% real oatmeal and hops from the Northwest. A full-bodied roasty ale that goes down smooth and silky.

Sample at Lafayette. Darkest brown color with a thin tan head. Malty and roasty aroma with some chocolatey sweetness. Creamy malt flavor with some sweet chocolate before a dry roasty finish.

[Bottle] Pours black with no head and nearly no bubbles. Aroma is pretty decent, lots of smoke, some roasted malts, and a touch of oats. Flavor kind of drops off, though. Watery and flat, mostly harsh roasty malts and plenty of smoke. Thereís really no sweetness to be found. Thereís also some light band-aid and detergent in there as well. Bummer, I generally really enjoy oatmeal stouts.

Pretty nice ruby color, good smoke and some peat, Modest carbonation but just as good as a Guiness

bottle - Pours near black with no head. That made me wonder if this bottle was a bad one, but fortunately it was fine. The aroma is of dark roast malt with coffee notes. The flavor is of roast malt, oatmeal, and coffee and finishes with some good bitterness from the roast and hops. Itís medium bodied and quite enjoyable overall.

Bottle from VBS. Pours Pours opaque black with slight brown edge and minimal quickly disappearing light tan head. Nose is dark malt, coffee, some chocolate and a little red meat. Flavor is well watered down nose, most of the nose has disappeared, whatís mainly left is black coffee and dark malt/chocolate. Much thinner and more watery than I was expecting and hoping. Still very decent sipper, smooth and easy on the palate. A slight sweet side and very faint hop background. The thinness is just too distracting IMHO.

Growler thanks to Bobby91w. Very, very, nice, although maybe more of an oatmeal porter than stout, like CharlesDarwin said. Pours a nice brown with a red hue. Nice aroma: oats, cinnamon, cookie dough, and chocolate. Flavor is much the same, tastes a bit like an oatmeal cookie with hints of roasted barley and maybe even a touch of coffee. Nice local brew that I was glad I got to try.

On tap at the brewpub. Interesting light toasted oatmeal and grass cookie. Amino and omega acids. Dense. Pours a surprisingly pale ruby-brown, fairly dark, but no oatmeal stout. Thick tan cream up top. Flavor is oily and has that good, toothy oatmeal flavor, but not really the density to hold it up. Roast character melds in well, but doesn’t stand up amongst the light bodied. A bit of yeast. Not the best density, but a very decent flavor profile. Maybe more of an oatmeal porter than an oatmeal stout.

on tap-pours a light brown head that laces and black color. Aroma is sweet dark malt/oat-chocolate/roasty, lactose. Taste is sweet dark malt/oat-chocolate/roasty/anise, lactose, slightly acidic hops. OK/mild carbonation. Nice.

Sampled at the restaurant. Really nice dark black color with almost no head (most likely because I had the sampler and they were poured early). Light aroma with stronger coffee and roasted malt flavor.

MI2CA (1340) - Noblesville, Indiana, USA - MAY 27, 2008
Sampled at HotShotz Indy tasting May 24, 2008 - Aroma is dark malts, oats, grease and chocolate. Pours light black with a small head and good lacing. Flavor matches aroma and is pretty mellow. This may be due to itís place in the tasting. Palate is creamy and smooth. Not bad and will probably rate higher when I get it on itís own.
