MI2CA (1036), Noblesville, Indiana, USA May 27, 2008 Sampled at HotShotz Indy tasting May 24, 2008 - Aroma is dark malts, oats, grease and chocolate. Pours light black with a small head and good lacing. Flavor matches aroma and is pretty mellow. This may be due to it’s place in the tasting. Palate is creamy and smooth. Not bad and will probably rate higher when I get it on it’s own.
jcwattsrugger (3942), Florida and, New Jersey, USA Sep 1, 2008 on tap-pours a light brown head that laces and black color. Aroma is sweet dark malt/oat-chocolate/roasty, lactose. Taste is sweet dark malt/oat-chocolate/roasty/anise, lactose, slightly acidic hops. OK/mild carbonation. Nice. BlockBrew (82), West Lafayette, Indiana, USA Aug 8, 2008 Sampled at the restaurant. Really nice dark black color with almost no head (most likely because I had the sampler and they were poured early). Light aroma with stronger coffee and roasted malt flavor. SpudClampDawg (920), Jasper, Indiana, USA May 4, 2008 12 oz bottle: Deep black core with tan highlights and a thick brown head. Notes were light but present, mostly nuts and caramel. The body was even and balanced with chocolate, nuts, caramel and coffee. The oatiness was missing though. A well done brew that didn’t extend itself in any direction to warrant a second look. Solid but expected. Tmoney99 (3538), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Feb 1, 2008 Draft At LB brewpub. Poured a hazy dark black color with an average creamy off-white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Good roasted chocolate aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture. Moderate roasted bittersweet flavor with a Moderate bittersweet smooth finish of average duration. Solid beer.
