Festival Tap: Black with roasty nose. Some chocolate coffee in the flavor, but flavor was rather light all around. Mouthfeel was especially creamy which was welcome. Slight dryness at finish, description says 44IBU.

Sampled at HotShotz Indy tasting May 24, 2008 - Aroma is dark malts, oats, grease and chocolate. Pours light black with a small head and good lacing. Flavor matches aroma and is pretty mellow. This may be due to itís place in the tasting. Palate is creamy and smooth. Not bad and will probably rate higher when I get it on itís own.

on tap-pours a light brown head that laces and black color. Aroma is sweet dark malt/oat-chocolate/roasty, lactose. Taste is sweet dark malt/oat-chocolate/roasty/anise, lactose, slightly acidic hops. OK/mild carbonation. Nice.

Roasted malts, charred notes, and oatmeal/oat notes that add a touch of soft sweetness. Pours dark brown with little head and no lace. First flavors are roast and char followed by light chocolate and oat notes, light balancing sweetness gives way to char and earthy hop notes on the finish. Very low almost non existent carbonation - no hiss when popped. Smooth silky body with just a bit too much char in the finish to accurately reflect style imo.

Sampled from the tap at the 2010 GTMW. Poured black with a gray brown head that dissipated to the edges. Aroma had lots of roasted malts with some dark grains and a slight oat note. Flavor was bitter with roasted grains and a hint of underlying oat.

Draft: Pours black with ruby highlights....short/thin dark head. Chocolate, coffee aroma. Chocolate with oat creaminess in flavor.. Good taste, but a little uneven and rough.

Sampler-sized draft at LBC Black as road tar... no, that sounds unpleasant... well, black. A thin head owed partly to LBCís lower carbonation levels across the line. A silky, creamy texture that does not mask the stoutís bitterness and a bit of driness. In other words, there are characteristics of nearly every kind of stout at work here.

Sampled from a growler at DarkLord Day, thanks anonymous person. Pours a murky brown with a small head. Chocolate nose, not picking out much else. Light chocolate flavors with a smooth palate. Not very sweet for a sweet stout, and actually finishes a little dry ... but a decent stout none the less.
