jcwattsrugger (4045), Florida and, New Jersey, USA Sep 1, 2008 on tap-pours a light brown head and black with red color. Aroma is rich dark malt-chocolate. Taste is rich dark malt-chocolate/molasses, nutty, secondary coppery hops. Drnk_McDermott (1565), Downers Grove, Illinois, USA Aug 16, 2006 Draft sampler glass at LBC. Low level of CO2 helps accentuate this historical style. First impression is that it’s a bit peaty. Then some nice, big coffee notes. A nice hop load gives it a northwestern tilt that really nice. Tastes much stronger than it probably is, abv wise. NachlamSie (1387), Tennessee, USA Aug 14, 2006 Draught during my Great Lakes region brew tour. This porter fills this glass with a ruby body and a small tan head. The aroma flirts with the unorthodox by showcasing a bright grapefruit scent. Of course, more obvious porter notes are present: coffee, caramel. This is an interesting brew indeed. More zesty pine and grapefruit is apparent in the flavor. It certainly isn’t super hoppy, but for a porter. . . . the coffee notes are certainly subdued.
