(Rating #6173)

My Bottom Line:
Biscuity and softly caramelized cereals meet tropical fruit-bearing hops in this extremely bitter and not entirely harmonious IPA.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam covers the dark ambery copper.
-This is easy drinking for bitterness lovers because the mouthfeel is soft and the carbonation not prickly.
-I would prefer more hop aromatics and less bitterness.
-Like their Evel Knievel, this one develops a very long finish which must be endearing to all New World hop lovers.

On tap at the brewpub.

Taster on tap at Lagabiere. Aroma: orange, tropical fruits. App: clear pale orange with small white head and some lacing. Taste and palate: medium body, resin, light carbonation, medium bitter finish. Overall: an on ipa. Could be more tasty.

On tap (5 oz) @ Lagabière

Appearance: Hazy amber with a medium creamy off-white head and heavy lacing. The color itself is beautiful, but I don’t like to see that kind of color for an IPA.

Aroma: Caramel, toasted malt, mineral notes and fainted citrus presence.

Taste: Caramel forward, earthy/mineral presence, light/moderate sweetness and fainted citrus notes.

Palate: Medium body. Moderate carbonation. Creamy mouthfeel. Mild, but lingering bitter finish.

Overall: Too caramel forward to be defined as an American IPA (or at least as a good one). Maybe there’s some age on this one, because the citrus presence is mild/fainted and it’s a bit heavy for the style.

On tap at Festival the Oktoberfest des Québécois 2014, on September 5. Dark gold, small head. Raw pale malt, some sweet hop taste. Green hoppy taste, a bit citrusy, good bitterness. Average IPA or something like that!

A reddish copper ipa with a thin off white head. In aroma, smooth biscuit malt with floral and resinous hops, pungent and musky. In mouth, a nice biscuit malt with floral and resinous hops, light butterscotch, nutty notes nice. On tap at brewery.

Bonne IPA. J’aime.
