Christmas in July! (August, actually.) Aroma: Honey and orange aromas--a bit heavy, though. Appearance: Dark brown with a nice, tan head. Taste: Light sweetness with a heavy sourness. Palate: Medium body, slick texture, soft carbonation, long sour finish. Overall: Yech. Tastes like sour honey. Poorly done.

From a bottle but I must say I am not one for spiced winter beers. Dark pour. Smell is somewhat sweet laiden with winter spice. Typical spiced up higher alky flavored winter beer. A little rude on the finish but certainly has lots of that spicey personality if you like that kind of thing.

Pours amber with a thin head. Aroma is some malt, then heavy ginger and cinnamon spice. Taste is largely the same, mostly holiday spice with some sweet malt flavor. Overall not terrible but not really my thing.

Pours dark almost black with a thin tan head. Pumpkin spice and coriander and anise spices. Bold immediate spice aroma and taste. Very nice. ---Rated via Beer Buddy

Pours a dark red, almost no head. On the nose it’s a typical christmas ale, but the taste is a little bit more than that. There’s a very pleasant balance of cinnamon and pine. People who don’t like christmas ales to taste like a spice cabinet probably won’t like this. Where this ale lets itself down, however, is in the complete lack of aftertaste. You get the nice mix of flavour on your tongue but it just fades into mild malt in the finish. A real missed opportunity because the initial sips are arguably better than Great Lakes Christmas Ale. It just overwhelms the tastebuds and leaves you unable to really enjoy it beyond a certain point.

This is a fantastic tasting seasonal. It has a good variety of sweetness and spice. I can’t wait for next Christmas.

Tap at Buckeye Beer Engine. Clear rich reddish amber pour with a smaller white head. Cinnamon and ginger dominate this one. Pretty tasty, really.

Dark amber pour with little head and lacing. Not much in aroma and taste, some spice flavor comes thru with little malt. Ok, but would not seek out.

Poured on draft at Bottles 101 in Kent. Aroma of Christmas, ginger and cinnamon. Flavor of a cinnamon stick with a hint of ginger. Mouthfeel has a medium body with moderate carbonation. A nice Christmas ale but nothing to special. There was something that was missing for me. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

22oz bottle from George, thanks! Rating #2. Slightly hazy dark amber color with a beige head. Big sweet spicy aroma, cinnamon and ginger big time. Flavor is the same, very Christmasy and not too bad. (2208)
