Lots of wheat for a curious malt complexity and leaving it light in color, but huge in flavor and satisfaction
Net contents: Ounces and ounces of Malt, Hops, Yeast and water.

As of late I can not find the time to take tasting notes of each beer I sample. I would like to track and record my thoughts of each so I will just use the simple scoring rubric until more time is available.

It is good. I find myself enjoying the simplicity of sumpin sumpin more than the complex attempt on the extra ale. Good, but a little stickly and malty.

Poured from bottle into a pint glass Appearance – The beer pours a golden-amber color with a one finger head of fizzy white foam. The head actually has a decent level of retention for the fizzy look of it, with it slowly fading to leave a decent level of fizzy lace on the sides of the glass. Smell – The aroma of the beer is quite heavy of a grassy and resinous pine hop smell along with some lighter more bready and crackery aromas. Other lighter citrus hop smells as well as a decent showing of a tropical fruit nature of tangerine and mango are there as well, creating a resinously bitter, but somewhat balanced smell. Taste – The taste begins with a thick and tropical fruity sweet flavor with a good showing of a pine and grassy hop taste right upfront. The tropical fruits are mainly of a tangerine flavor, but also have a good showing of mango and pineapple as well. These fruit flavors create a base sweetness for the brew and are quickly joined by some bready and doughy flavors. While the grassy hop fades as the taste advances, a good deal of grapefruit citrus hop and even more pine come to the tongue, well making up for the grassy hop leaving. In the end with all the newly acquired hops and the nice mix of fruity and doughy tastes, one is left with a satisfyingly bitter but fruity sweet flavor to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is very thick and creamy with a carbonation level that is rather low. These characteristics are fantastic for the blend of fruity sweet, doughy, and resiously hopped flavors of the brew and make for an easy drinking but good sipping double IPA. Overall – This was a very nice double IPA. I would certainly recommend this one to others and this is one I will come back to more often.

The malts in this one are the deal. The beer is good. Very smooth and somewhat dry. The odd or at the very least different malts give a caramel breadiness thats nice. A bit of nuttiness too. The hops really sit back and although this is an IPAish beer? It’s not a hop-bomb. Nice. Easy to drink at 8.5.

Aroma: hay, oats, grassy hops and a little bit of orange peel. Appearance: straw colored gold. Creamy white head with brilliant clarity. Taste: sweet and tart apple, bitter grapefruit. Finishes on a strangely sweet caramel and bitter flower note. Not unpleasant, just a conflict between the malt backbone and hops. Palate: sticky, lively carb

Pours a clear golden color with whitr head. Pine, citrus, malt, and hop resin on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes with sweetness.

Bottle. Pours clear yellow/amber with a white frothy somewhat lasting head that leaves great lacing. Full aroma of citrus, pine and grass. Lightly bitter, medium sweet taste in a light to medium body, oily texture, a bit too much carbonation through the finish with flavors of caramel and malt leading to a bitter/sticky finish.

Bottle. ABV is listed as 8.5% with 64 IBUs. Looks good; a mostly transparent golden orange with foamy white head. Smells good too; loads of juicy and piney hops with some sweetness from the malt. Tastes like it smells with a mouthfeel that’s a little boozy but still solid. Good beer.

UPDATED: AUG 15, 2014 Happy IPA day! Tap at shamrock. Wonderful straw yellow great white head with retention and lacing. Very inviting floral grass bitterness. Clean floral grass light citrus hop up front. The malt balances everything out with a soft sweetness. Excellent beer!
