3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
I just scored this the other day. I have had the sumpin sumpin before. Is this the same with a name change or what. It was a good dark beer, for as many hops as were in it, it was very dark and bold in the likes of dark fruits and such. Good session ale.

Poured from as bottle. Nice grapefruit and pine in the nose. Golden hue with some orange breaks in the middle. Frothy white head that laces nicely as I drink. Sweetness in a dominant wheat flavor of the malt with grapefruit and citrus flavors as the bitterness comes through.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Nice golden pour with a wheat and citrusy aroma. Certainly more dense than the Sumpin’ Sumpin’. Great piney and citrusy flavor. Pretty much a hop bomb through and through. I do get a sense of the wheat in this with a zesty and spicy flavor. I get a complex finish that is buttery rich, peppery and earthy.

4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Wait, so this is basically Little Sumpin’ Sumpin’ but with more hops and booze? Take my money, Lagunitas. If anyone is still keeping track of all the subcategories of hoppy ales, I guess you’d have to call this one an Imperial White IPA. I guess. While Little Sumpin’ Sumpin’ presents a relatively even balance of wheat malt and hops, Extra! is more hop-forward, as you’d expect. Body is a shade darker and more hazy, but there’s the same gorgeous foam. Aroma is a blend of piney, citrusy, floral, and grassy hops. Flavor is equally complex. Fresh grass, leafy bitterness, melon, guava, orange, grapefruit, nectar, and hints of honey and wheat bread. Mouthfeel is sticky, dank, and crisp. The hops are damn near chewy. Anyone who thinks all wheat-based beers are light-bodied and sweet is bound to be pretty surprised by this brew.
