3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
12oz bottle, nice and fresh, purchased from Bottle Barn. Pours a bright, clear, golden-orange color; creamy, significant, fine-bubbled white head with excellent lacing and retention; solid pour. Nicely expressive, aromatic hop nose, showing grapefruit, oranges (Amarillo, is a guess), and even a touch of pine; slightly warming alcohol character, though well-integrated; minimal passing note of crystal malt, if at all; definitely more expressive in its hop aromatics than many of the ASAs they put out; probably the most engaging aroma of anything Iíve had from them. Medium body; medium carbonation; non-astringent and no immediate show of alcohol; nicely juicy orange and grapefruit hop character, along with (again) a touch of pine; this strikes me as Amarillo and Simcoe with some sort of C-Hop, maybe?; relatively quiet malt core, showing some candied malts and hints of crystal (but nothing rough, thankfully); light fruitiness; relatively tasty IPA with a hop character that I tend to generally enjoy, though with a slightly viscous middle. Still quite tasty, though I see no reason that this needs to be 7.3%. You crazy Petalumers. Lengthy finish (always that sticking bitterness): oranges, sugar; balanced out.

4.3 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap @ Rodan...
Pours a clear golden/amber color with a gorgeous large white foamy head. Aroma is fantastic - easily my favorite aspect of this beer - very nice waves of fruity scents comprised of sweet melons and citrus. Really remarkable.
Flavor is like a more mellow version of the smell but with a touch of bitterness added in. Very well carbonated - mouthfeel feels very appropriate for the style.
Will definitely be drinking this one again - very tasty and one of my favorites from Lagunitas.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 oz bottle. Pours a clear yellow gold with a smallish creamy white head that quickly diminishes to a thin film that laces the glass.
The aroma is bready caramel malts with resiny piney hops and a little fruit. Smells a bit dank and earthy too.
The flavor is some bready malts and musty eathiness with a lot of hop bitterness - piney, floral and resiny. Thereís a little fruit too. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with some sharp carbonation.
Overall, a nice IPA. Some of the characteristics remind me of Gubna by OB, but itís more reserved.

Draft @ Federal. Nice full, floral now. Clean, crisp grassy flavors that finishes amazingly smooth. Maybe a little hot up front for a single IPA, but still great stuff.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: AUG 12, 2010 Sample at the blind IPA tasting at Blacklick Wine & Spirits. Pours a clear golden-orange color with a medium foamy white head that recedes steadily to an outer ring. Thing rings of lacing. Aroma of hops and peaches. Medium body with flavors of citrusy hops, sweet melon, malt and a bit of pine. The finish is fruity with a hoppy aftertaste. Above average overall.

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a clear copper orange with a small, white film of a head that leaves no lacing.. The aroma is overpowered by hops. Very citrusy with grapefruit, pineapple, and a bit of pine needles. Smells like Centennial, Simcoe, and Amarillo...a wonderful hop profile. The flavor is toned down compared to the aroma, but still has a lot of hops. The malt is sweet, has a biscuity flavor, but is very clean and thinner than your usual 7% ipa. Crisp and light on the palate, and not as bitter as the aroma would lead you to believe. Nice hoppy summer brew.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
This is an interesting mix of a summer lager and an IPA, it has plenty of hops and alcohol, but is also light and crisp. Hops could use a little more flavor though.

On tap at the hopyard in Pleasanton. Pours a light gold color with a small off white head. The aroma is very bright, west coast citrusy with a touch of caramel and pine. The flavor is nice with fresh grapefruit, caramel, grains, and a piney finish. Excellent Ipa!
